Bare metal environment can be described as a network or computer system which has been installed with a virtual machine on the hardware rather than on the host operating system. A virtual machine is usually defined as a multi-user shared resource which has the ability to give the users the impression that they are the only controller of a network resource or a computer. The use of the term bare metal refers to the hard disk which has been used as a medium through which an operating system in a computer has been installed.

When in the process of deploying an operating system to a bare machine the use of system center configuration is usually preferred. It is more efficient and easier to use. Systemcenter configuration manager are usually used to perform zero touch installation during system deployment. By using this, the user has the ability to only target a specific window system which is present in your computer. This has a SCCM client which has been installed and will enable you to install a new OS on it.You should note that you will only have the ability to target systems which don’t have any OS which had been previously ...
... installed.

Using the SCCM procedure to deploy an operating system can be tricky especially for those without perfect knowledge of how this work. This is mostly due to use of term which are confusing and hard to clearly understand. Some of this term can include; computernode, un-provisioned computer node, unknown computer support among a variety of others. Clear understanding of this term is usually required in order to effectively deploy bare metal OS

Technology has led to effective deployment of OS.Currently the use of R2 for SCCM is usuallypreferred. The previous way involved the use of OSD which involved creating a record for the system in your database (SCCM database). This new record was then added to a collection, you had to advertise your OSD task sequence to this collection. While creating this record, knowledge of SMBIO GUID or MAC address was critical.

SMBIO GUID can easily be found in the CMOS BIOS. For those users who are using PXE service point, they can easily boot bare metal into PXE. They can then check the PXE screen or check at the SMSPXE.From here you can log on to the server. All this has to be performed in an operating system which has been installed with an operating system.

Use of this script Cscript addComputerRecordToSCCM.vbsis preferred to prompt for the name of the SCCM computer from where you will collect. Also the MAC address and collection of ID for the name of computer resources can be found using this. By looking at the property of a given collection, you can easily find the collection ID. This is another way of doing this

Use of R2, introduces a computer support to the move any necessary need for pre-creating a record in the SCCM database which is quite necessary for OSD.This usually works with Boot media and PXE boot.it will create two unknown system resources .these resource will be added to a new collection which it will have created.

By enabling the unknown computer support, you will have the ability to advertise the OSD task sequence to this collection. In un-provisioned system their SMS has the ability to receive OSD task sequence. Once the operating system has been installed, the system will be removed from un-provisioned computer node. When you need to enable the unknown computer support, you will have to click enable unknown computer support. This is in the PXE service point configuration.
