The growth of a state depends on the development of its people as a whole and it cannot be accounted as complete until the marginalized and under privileged sections of the society are not uplifted. Odisha is a developing state where there are certain rural communities which remain in the dark phases of their lives. They are deprived of the basic amenities and conditions even for a normal standard of living. With the help of CSR of companies and public-private partnerships various development programmes including rural health in Odisha can provide effective results in the matter of time. There are certain focus areas that need immediate attention in order to serve the people of rural communities.

Different sectors of rural development

Certainly, there are several sectors in which the rural development programmes are carried out and few of them are listed below:-

Connectivity: In order to bring the people into mainstream, the connectivity shall improve. There are various rural areas where means to communication is failed due to poor or no connectivity of the roads. Plans for rural development programmes ...
... in Odisha should formulate according to that.

Infrastructure: Similarly, poor infrastructure obstructs many implementations such as education, shelter and others. It doesn’t require building of sky high buildings but normal infrastructure with basic facilities could provide comfortable accommodation to the rural people.

Employment: An issue that prominently holds back the means of livelihood for the people is huge number of unemployment. For that reason, skill development centers should develop under rural development programmes in Odisha to generate skilled workers and entrepreneurs. Industries face shortage of workers due to the deficit between demand and supply of efficient workers. The training will help the people to learn and develop the skills. For example, setting up of Industrial training centers (ITC) could provide training for fitters, electricians and other jobs.

Healthcare: The rural health in India is left unaddressed in the absence of basic healthcare facilities. Programmes under which health centers built for the people are a starting idea to address the health concerns and issues.

Education: Lack of infrastructure stops the education and not just that general utilities like blackboards, chalks, books and others aren’t available at several rural areas. Setting up of minimum infrastructure, recruiting quality teachers and essential resources need to cover in the development programmes.

Electrification: There are several rural development programmes in Odisha which upon implementation could get electrification of the villages through the use of renewable sources such as biogas, bio-diesel and manure.

Water and Sanitation: Poor sanitation creates adverse health effects on the people. Hence, under those programmes, building toilets and waste management systems are helpful. Similarly, properly treated water bodies or water facilities are a prominent requirement of the rural people.

Miscellaneous: There are several issues which are handled through the development programmes such as facilities for the disabled regarding vocation training, medical aid, assistance, pensions, etc.

Collaborative and genuine efforts can impressively help the rural people to join with the mainstream.
