What Is Self Esteem?
Self esteem is a person’s own psychological, emotional, physical and spiritual evaluation. Self esteem is mainly about the worth we give ourselves, how much we like ourselves, and how well we feel about ourselves. It is the result of the influences of such factors like family, friends, celebrities, political figures and/or the circumstances and the nature of environment that we possess.

In most of the cases we fell in the devious well of pessimism, because something bad has happened to us or things or circumstances has turned into situations that we cannot control. And sometimes, our own social circles causes our self esteem to lose by reminding us over a certain period of time that we lack something or things are not favorable for us. The continuous exposure to such circles can be dangerous for us. And if we become unable to maintain our control on ourselves and give it to others, we are surely to become victim of losing our self esteem. Such situations reminds about an indication that we had lost or forgotten about our self esteem.

... nature, values, cultures, ethics, education and experiences about life. That’s why we possess different kind of personalities, thinking styles and lifestyle. So it’s quite impossible that all of us have a similar level of self esteem, because all of us react differently on a single issue or case. Consequently due to these factors our self esteem level fluctuates throughout the different stages of life, because of the changes and challenges we meet.

If we have fairly near to the ground control on ourselves it is quite possible that we can lose our self esteem early on and building self esteem within ourselves takes time.

Why is Self Esteem important?
As like possessing health, wealth and social status in life, it is quite important to have self esteem to get the peace of mind that we need to have in our life. It brings a person to a stage of joy, confidence, enthusiasm and liveliness. It helps us to get-up-and-go. A person with higher self esteem has the ability to live the life at fullest regardless of the setback and distress. It can help us fight with the situation and keep us psychologically, emotionally, and spiritually alive.

However the good news is that improving self esteem is easy but only when you have realized that you can take responsibility over your own thoughts, feelings, emotions and behavior.

10 Ways to start improving the self esteem

You can simply begin today to work through some of the ideas and exercises listed in this article. Some of them might be more easy and appealing to you than others, so try incorporating them in your life, right here and right now. One important thing to note is that there isn’t any rule of thumb to follow all the principles and tips listed here; you can choose with which one is easy to put into practice and what helps you best to get the results as early as possible. So let’s spin the roll of uneasiness into happiness, joy, confidence, peace and enthusiasm.

1. Access the power of your subconscious mind
Our subconscious mind cannot tell the difference between reality and an imagined thought or image. Whatever we continue to tell our subconscious mind, our subconscious mind will digest and make truth of that. We affect the unconscious mind through verbal repetition. So access that power to change your subconscious mind with the kind of thoughts, emotions and behavior you want to have in you.

2. Stand up for your right
Sometimes we back down just to keep the peace. But standing up for our beliefs, emotions and inner voice is what really builds self esteem. Unless we stand up for ourselves and take action to look forward as grabbing our right, we aren’t going to get out of the hell.

3. Building self-esteem is your responsibility
The most important point to remember in developing self esteem is to take responsibility for who you are. This will empower you. It is none of your concern what others say or think about you in order to drag you down from your esteem level. Protecting your self esteem is your responsibility.

4. Know your worth
The circumstances that are beyond your control must not be given even a single chance to determine who you are. It also includes people, who repeatedly attack your confidence and self-esteem, because they are quite aware of your potential, even if you are not. In that case, you must all realize what you’re worth on your own. Know who you are and believe in that.

5. Practice the art of good deeds, good finds good
Start doing good things for yourself and all others belonging to you and in fact with everyone even though you are hurt, and never stop doing good things for others. Sometimes, those little acts occupy the biggest part of their heart. Remember, goodness is the only investment that never fails and this practice will help in changing things from worse to well.

6. Activate your positive chemicals
Our every action and response is associated with release of such chemicals in our body, among these chemicals some of them are positive and others are negative. All have effects on our psychology, health, motivation level and our self esteem. Negative chemicals worsen the state and quality of above-named objects. While the positive chemicals do the opposite but in a quite remarkable phenomenon which is highly needed to have sound health, higher level of motivation, inner peace and good and sound state of mind. So activate your positive chemicals to immediately soar the levels of higher self esteem.

7. Develop an attitude of gratitude
Gratitude is the best way to have more in life. It is not joy that makes us grateful; it is gratitude that makes us joyful. It is necessary for you to be grateful. It will give you sense of satisfaction and feelings of fulfillment.

Make a list of the people, things and even events you are grateful for because of the love, service and devotion that they give you. Forget about the things that you don’t wish for, instead mention the things you are grateful or thankful for. Now after the list is build up, whenever you will think about them you will have gratitude for them. It really will lift your self esteem up.

8. Self accomplishment
Man was designed for accomplishment, engineered for success and had been endowed with seeds of greatness. You are an amazing creation with great power and ability. You have great riches of talent within you and you can find this and give it freely to the world. Nothing builds self esteem and self confidence to greater extent like self accomplishment.

9. Forget about past and future and live in the present
Everything in life is temporary, so if things are going good, enjoy it because it won’t last forever, and if things are going bad, don’t worry, it can’t last forever either. The truth is that, the only thing which really exists in this very moment is in which we live. Therefore, forget about past and future and live in the present.

10. Accept all compliments with thanks
A compliment is a verbal sunshine. If someone pays you a compliment simply say ‘thank you’. Keep in mind that you have been blessed with talents, skills and abilities, and you can compliment yourself for these on regular basis to keep your self esteem level up.

Only you decide how you want to think and feel. Once you realize that you can visualize a positive view of your day, more satisfying results will follow. Be aware that you create your own reality through your own mind; you can access feelings of peace, calm, joy, and strength whenever you choose.

Bear in mind that, your life is a result of the choices you made, if you don’t like your life it’s time to start making better choices. It’s time to make choice of having better and greater self-esteem. The more you will practice these rules and exercises, the better at it you will become, but the key of becoming master is to start practicing to get accomplished with higher self esteem.
