Main varieties of Banaras saree are pure silk, Organza with Zari and silk, Georgette and Shattir. According to design process, they are divided into different categories like Jangla, Tanchoi, Vaskat, Cutwork, Tissue and Butidar.
The awesome floral and leafy motifs known as ‘kalga’ and ‘bel’ and outer border designs of upright leaves known as ‘Jhallar’ are inspired by Mughal designs.
Colors like maroon, brown and red in combination with green and golden will definitely stand out uniquely enhancing your stature
The Banarasi sarees are designed with floral zari bootis, embroidery work, Zardozi, sequins, beads, kundans works with zari, heavy brocade patch work borders and rich designer pallus, will make the sari look elegant, classy yet fashionable.
In addition the heavy gold work on the brocades, the compact weaving of the base fabric, the small detailing, metallic visual effects, the mesh pattern and the intricate embroidery work are all contributive towards making the Banarasi silk sari, a rich traditional offering and a national pride.
During the mughal period, weaving of brocades with ...
... intricate designs using gold and silver threads became the speciality of the banarasi silk saree.
Banarsi silk sarees are perfectly suitable for bride, weddings, traditional occasions, grand parties, because such sarees carry a lot of aura and the occasion to wear them should be important as well.
The weaving process takes up to a month or even several, based on the designs and trappings chosen for the Banarasi Saree.

The current design of Banarasi was the mix up of Persian design and Indian artistic culture. Methods are being adopted to extract natural colours from plants, flowers and fruits to address environmental concerns, but still much needs to be done.
