A Miracle Called Mother

In my view, you can learn all your management skills from your mother. Think about it, she manages your whole childhood without much problem, she still manages your house, and she manages your foolish demands selflessly. On top of that, she never gets paid for her job. Forget about getting paid, her work is not even acknowledged for many years. Still she never complains. I think this is the true quality of greatest manager of the world.

How we reward her; we laugh at her because her computer skills are not as good as ours, we get annoyed at her because she still feels her old television was much better then the new LCD that we bought, we smirk when she thinks about the electricity bills before installing a new air conditioner at her room.

Over the years I have noticed that people love their mothers more then anyone else (well most of the people that I have met). However, they would wait for a whole year to buy gifts for her. So, she would receive a gift from you either on her birthday or Mother's Day. Some children are kind enough to send roses to her on Woman's Day too. But that is it. If a child is living in ...
... another city, he/she would get a gift for her when they come to see her on holidays. Is that all? When was the last time you surprised your mother with a gift when she least expected it. I can't remember it myself.

Remember, when you were born you were the best friend for you mother and your mother was the best friend for you. Then, you replace her with your kindergarten buddies. And then with your primary school teacher, then, you get a new female friend in 3rd grade and she becomes your best friend. You have a crush in your high school and even she becomes your best friend for sometime. Then it is your girlfriend, your wife and then your children. However, for your mother, you are still her best friend. We remove her from that designation of best friend, but, she never removed you from her list.

Remember the times when you were worried about something and you were crying in your own room and your mother overheard your cries. She came over to you and tried to console you, but, you asked her to leave you alone. She went back to her room, tears filling her eyes, which you never saw. You know, she isn't crying because you have been rude to her. She is crying because she could not help her own baby when he/she needed her.

Your mother knows each time you have something in your mind, even when you don't tell her. She just doesn't know what is in your mind. And believe me, all the problems that we carry in our minds when we are in our youth would be solved if we tell our mothers about them. They are far more experienced than we are at that time. We would save ourselves from so many sleepless nights if we could share our problems with our mothers.

The problem is that we do not realize it until its too late. And then, there is no turning around. Atleast I know what to do now. I hope you can also be a friend to your mother in her coming years, if not the best friend.
