The Best Way To Apply Foam It Green
Foam it Green is an advanced do-it-yourself foaming insulation kit that virtually anyone can successfully apply with a little patience and attention to the suggested process. This environmentally-friendly polyurethane insulation material not only keeps heat and cold from passing through your home or business's walls, but also creates a physical barrier to reduce or eliminate air flow. The Fire Rated E-84 kit is a complete package created to address your insulation needs, and features a patented gun design that is touted to be the most user-friendly model available. Following is a step-by-step approach to applying your Foam It Green product:
Remove your nozzle packet and unwrap the gun and hose system from your kit.
Attach the "A" hose to the "A" tank, and the "B" hose to the "B" tank. Next, use your hand to turn the swivel nut down before tightening it with a wrench.
Ensure your product is the correct temperature by checking the temperature strip on top of the white tank. If you see a blue square, you need to place the entire kit in a warmer environment for 24 hours. A red square means it needs to rest in ...
... a cooler climate for 24 hours but a green square means the temperature is just right and you're ready to begin.
Lubricate the O-ring of the gun with the petroleum jelly. Now install a mixing nozzle by pushing it into the gun body.
Check for leaks by opening the valves only partway, and tighten if needed. If no leaks are detected, open these valves all the way.
Turn off the safety switch and test the foam by spraying it at full pressure. It should be light green and feel dry after two minutes.
If the foam looks and feels correct, it's time to begin insulating your project. Always hold the gun 18 to 24 inches from the intended surface.
Move the application gun evenly back and forth and use constant pressure on the gun to ensure the best coverage.
After taking a break, you'll need to change the mixing nozzle; the foam will clog it up after about 30 seconds of no activity.
Remember that Foam it Green expands to six times its original volume - you don't want to overfill your target space!
Begin by spraying a one-inch line of foam around the perimeter of your target, and then fill it from top to bottom using an even back and forth motion.
After allowing the foam to cure, you may always add another layer for thicker coverage. Any area requiring more than one inch of coverage should be subject to multiple passes with the foam, as a layer that is too thick may be uneven or drip off the surface before curing.
Remember to maintain steady trigger pressure of at least 25% of its full range of motion.
Filling a space that requires more than four inches of foam should always be done with multiple layers. Don't worry-these will adhere to each other with no problems.
Remember that polyurethane, the material Foam it Green is made of, generates heat during the curing phase and can cause combustion. Avoid spraying too much foam in a space that is insulated with another layer of foam.
Feel free to use your Foam it Green to fill in smaller gaps just as you would with caulk. If you use too much foam, you can always trim away any excess.
After opening your kit, it is only covered under warranty for 30 days. Remember to use it at least once a week so you don't need to buy a new hose and/or gun assembly. Store the kit in an area where the temperature stays within 40 to 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
Perhaps one of the most important things to do once you receive your Foam it Green insulation kit is to check and ensure that you have read and re-read the enclosed instructions. Ensuring you are completely prepared to apply your foam before starting will prevent many costly mistakes; that being said, the process is generally simple enough for virtually anyone to master.
Should you ever find yourself in need of assistance or have a question not directly addressed in the instruction packet, call or email customer service right away. They're available at all times specifically to answer your questions, so don't hesitate to get the information you need to have a successful insulation experience.
