You might think that choosing the right bird cage is a simple task. Well, it is if you are knowledgeable about bird cages and the current brands available for purchase. However, if you are new to birds and bird cages, it could actually be an extremely challenging process. There are numerous things to keep in mind, and some of them might not be so obvious to you.
The first issue in finding the right cage is your bird's safety. Many generic cages are mass produced by factories that don't really know anything about birds. Cages like that should be avoided at all costs. Stick to brand names that have been around and are trusted by bird owners.
The second issue to consider is your bird's comfort. Most people just buy a cheap cage and assume its fine for their bird. Well, that's not true at all. Your cage must be adequately sized for your bird. If you don't get your bird out much, the cage you house your bird in should be oversized. As a rule of thumb, even small birds like Finches need at least a 16" wide by 16" deep cage. Medium size birds like Lories and African Grey Timnehs need a cage that's at least 30" ...
... wide by 20" deep. Large birds like Macaws and Cockatoos require the most space. And parrot cages are designed in manner in which parrots would be comfortable as they require more space to spread wings. Birds that are that large should be housed in a cage no smaller than 40" by 30".
The third and final issue we will discuss is the look and style of your cage. Some don't care about this, but since the bird cage will become a part of your home décor, you may as well get a cage that's attractive and fits in with your other furniture. Top bird cage manufacturers offer very elegant colors and styles of bird cages.
As you build your home to cater to your specific requirements, it should be no different for your birds. So choose an appropriate bird cage, parrot cages and bird cage covers to enhance your bird petting experience at www.birdexpressions.com.
