The History Of Fleetwood Mac

How much would you know about Fleetwood Mac? This band has been around for a long time and they are still around today, although there is only one of the original members left in the line-up. This is, most appropriately, Mick Fleetwood, who lent his name to the band in the first place. There have been many other band members over the years, but the original line-up included Peter Green, Jeremy Spencer and Bob Brunning, although Bob soon left to be replaced by John McVie. Stevie Nicks is often associated with the band and indeed while she was not an original member she has been with Fleetwood Mac for many years.
The band originally performed from 1967 all the way through until 1995. They took a two-year break before coming back in 1997 and they have been performing and releasing records ever since. As a result they have an extensive history in the music business, one that is pretty enviable and they certainly have a longevity others would envy.
Let's take a look at their discography to see how they have done over the years. Firstly we should note that Rumours, the eleventh album to be released by the band, consistently ...
... appears on charts as one of the world's best-selling albums of all time. It is hard to position it accurately since sales are ongoing but a recent list put it in eighth position. Even if you dispute this a little you will still find it high up on the all-time list, which is quite an achievement.
The band has released 17 studio albums thus far, of which Rumours is just one. There are a further 23 compilation albums available as well, which shows you just how many they have worked on over the years. They certainly have plenty of material in their back catalogue to satisfy the fans who have paid for Fleetwood Mac tickets to see them live.
You should also consider the 76 singles they've released over the years. Albatross achieved the number one spot in the UK, where they have enjoyed a lot of success during their career. The UK re-release of this song made it to number two several years' later as well.
It is interesting to note that their albums have often done better overall than the singles have. 'Rumours' has sold throughout the years since its release in 1977 when it hit the top spot in the album charts in six countries. It has since achieved platinum status multiple times along with diamond and gold status in other regions too. This is just part of the thrill of making music, and when you get Fleetwood Mac tickets to see them live you'll see they are just as thrilling today as they ever were during their career.
