Who Is Joseph Ratzinger?

For the next two years Cardinal Ratzinger served the German Army in its pursuit of world domination at the expense of innocent Jews and non-Jews alike. He deserted in 1945, returning to his hometown of Traunstein after the almost eminent collapse of the Third Reich. Since then Joseph Ratzinger has denounced the atrocities of Hitler's Nazi regime, but it seems he takes no responsibility for his role in aiding the German army in committing these acts. Instead he has defended his actions by saying he was forced into Hitler's military against his will. There in lies my problem with the election of Joseph Ratzinger to succeed Pope John Paul II. He must take responsibility for his involvement in World War II and make atonement for his lack of conviction. ... this as the example of true Christianity, Joseph Ratzinger should have unequivocally refused to aid in the genocides that occurred in World War II regardless of the cost.
