Article Writing Guide - Steps To Improve Your Article Writing
Clueless as to how you can produce great articles? Then, this comprehensive guide is for you so you better read on!
1. Read and learn. Although article writing is a pretty simple task, it's very important for you to know its ins and outs. You can do this by simply reading relevant online resources. Right now, there are so many blogs, articles, websites, ezines, and ebooks that contain all the things that you need to know about this endeavor.
2. Learn from the experts. If you want to speed up the learning process, I recommend that you hire a writing coach who can surely help you out. His years of experience and his relevant background can help you learn the ropes of article writing in no time. Although this would mean paying this person good money to know what he knows, you can be assured that it will well worth it.
3. Practice makes perfect. Reading relevant resources and asking tips from writing gurus are really not enough for you to write great articles. You will need to put all the information you've gathered into practice. I suggest that you write at least a couple of articles on a daily basis. Through ...
... this, you'll figure out what areas you're struggling with. Get your writing coach to help you convert your weaknesses to strengths.
4. Read articles online. Make time to visit article directories. Then, read those articles that are often read by online users and those that are considered very popular in the online arena. It will work to your advantage if you determine how these articles were written. This is exactly how you should write your articles to make sure that they'll get the same kind of attention from online users.
5. Choose your topics. What should you discuss in your articles? When answering this question, ensure that you take your readers into consideration. It's very important that you talk about those topics that they find relevant or useful to their lives. I recommend that you talk about their problems and their most burning questions. Then, at the end of your articles, offer these people with the best answers and solutions. You can also offer them with useful guides and information on how they can easily advance in their chosen endeavors. For example, if you're writing for people who would like to make money online, you can teach them the ropes of SEO, affiliate marketing, article writing, and other topics that can help them cash in from the internet.
6. Research and brainstorming. Now that you have your topics, the next thing to do is to research them thoroughly. This doesn't mean spending hours reading online and offline resources. Just check out at least 3 relevant and reputable blogs or websites that can offer you all the kind of information that you're looking for. After doing your research, brainstorm and choose only those information that you're going to include in your articles. These should be the most important ones that your readers will be happy to know about.
7. Planning. What angles of your topics are you going to target? How long your articles will run? What writing style and language are you going to use? How can you make sure that your articles are highly targeted to the needs and demands of your audience? You've got to find answers to these questions first before you start tapping on your keyboard.
8. Learn the ropes of creating powerful, catchy titles. This is one skill that can surely bring a huge difference to your writing career. If you want people to pay attention to your copies, you've got to create titles that will grab their attention. It's a must that you carefully choose your words as you cannot use more than 10 words on your titles. You've got to keep them short and very tight. Ensure that you can communicate the gist of your content and the benefits that your audience can get using few words as possible.
9. Use the inverted pyramid technique. After capturing the attention of your audience through your titles, the next thing to do is to keep them interested. You don't want them to close your articles just after reading your first couple of sentences, right? So, make your first paragraph or your introduction as powerful as your titles.
10. Breakdown your articles into readable chunks. Instead of giving your readers with 1-2 lengthy paragraphs, I recommend that you make your articles easier on the eyes. You can do this by discussing at least 5 major points that are related to your chosen topics using very short paragraphs. Just make sure though that you connect your ideas together to promote continuity.
11. Deliver complete information. You would want your readers to walk away feeling like they've got everything they need to understand your chosen topics. This will be a big boost to your online reputation and expert status. I suggest that you show your articles to those people who are clueless about your chosen topic. If they were able to understand the points that you're trying to get across after reading your articles, this will tell you that your articles are indeed content-rich.
12. Deliver unique content. If you're dead serious about selling yourself as an expert in your chosen niche, you better not copy other articles that are written by your competitors. This will make your readers feel that you don't have originality and that you don't have great information to share. Write your articles by sharing your own tips and a slice of your expertise. Also, write them using your own words.
13. Help your readers. Offer only those information that are useful to your readers. These include solutions and answers to problems and questions, how-to guides that can empower your audience, and several insider tips and techniques on how they can excel in their chosen endeavors.
14. Keep your articles short. You're not writing a novel. You're writing for people who are pressed for time. So, keep your articles short so you will not waste your readers' time. You can do this by discussing very specific topics, by being straightforward, and by eliminating fillers from your content.
15. Keep it simple. Your readers must not have a hard time understanding your content. This can happen if you communicate your thoughts and ideas using simple terms and short sentences. It would also help if you insert examples and visuals that can promote better understanding.
16. Review and edit your articles. This is the perfect way to end the process. Check your articles for possible errors and edit them when and as needed. Ensure that they don't contain run on sentences and common writing errors (grammar, spelling, punctuation, and syntax errors) to easily offer your audience with great, enjoyable reading experience.
