Switzerland boasts of a spectacular mountainous landscape ideal for a decadent ski holiday. Complete with its unique climate, vast lake, and stunning scenery. It seems to be a perfect destination to take a much-needed vacation. While you are at it, you may also consider a break from Indian cooking away in Geneva to try something new, and essentially Swiss! The country boasts of some hearty traditional dishes that you're going to savour during your stay here. There are some delightful Swiss dishes everybody should taste going beyond Indian cooking away in Geneva which is also called as Emporté cuisine indien à Genève; in french.

Papet Vaudois

Valaisanne style Rosti
Do you want to try something different from the usual Indian cooking away in Geneva? So why don't you go for the iconic Swiss dish ‘rosti’! It consists of pan-fried golden and crisp potatoes thinly grated before preparation. Traditionally it was a breakfast dish for farmers but nowadays you can order it throughout the country during the mealtimes. Rosti Valaisanne as the name indicates comes from Valais canton and is served beautifully in ceramic dishes. It is an addictive rosti mash up topped with melted cheese, fried eggs, and salty bacon served alongside pearl pickled onions and tangy gherkins.
Roasted Basel-style flour soup
While many variations of this dish are available, the basic method uses beef stock, onion, simple flour, and butter topped with Gruyere grating. If you are attending the Basel Carnival, you are sure to be served this soup... So enjoy!
Tartiflette
This cheese has its origin in the 16th century but only after 1980, it gained prominent focus after it was presented in a new format to boost the sagging sales. Today, you are sure to be served this at the ski resorts and at various Geneva restaurants, so surely must try option during your Switzerland stay.
Leckerli
A Christmas special, these are gingerbread-like, spiced biscuits with hazelnut tender renderings. Sweet, sticky, and spicy, the best way to savour them is by dipping them in tea.
Raclette
This cheese preparation reminds you of pine waft and wood-burning fires. Customarily this local cheese comes grilled over fire slowly to create layers blanketing onions, pickles, and boiled potatoes.
