Mortal Kombat fans have a great year ahead of them; the latest iteration of one of the best selling video games in the world is making its debut in April 2015 in the form of Mortal Kombat X and Mezco Toyz is producing a line of figures straight from the game. Mezco has produced more than a couple of award wining and groundbreaking figures over the years however they appear to be attempting to set the bar higher than ever before with their new MKX line.

Mortal Kombat has seen action figures before; Hasbro created several sets in 1994 and 1995 that look like bootleg GI Joe figures. Toy Island produces a series in 1996 that appeared to really be knockoffs of the Hasbro series, and Jazwares also produces a series in 2011 that made the characters look vaguely like aerobics instructors. Both Infinite Concepts and Palisades also created Mortal Kombat figures, however fans discovered them to be sorely lacking.

Mezco’s initial lineup, slated to hit shops in June 2015, consist of three figures; Scorpion, Sub-Zero, and Raiden. Each has been created directly from the digital files used in the ...
... games and it shows. The look of the characters has been captured perfectly. Whilst real-life humans can look lifeless when output from a digital file, these computer-generated characters have somehow been given the gift of life. The characters seem amazingly real and this translates to a superior item.

Mortal Kombat fans have been playing the game for more than two decades, and this June, Mezco is finally making our dreams come true with extremely articulated figures that look as though they have broken free from the game itself. One can only hope they continue this trend not only with additional series in the Mortal Kombat line, but with other games as well.
