Quarter sawing involves sawing of oak at 90-degree angle to the growth rings of a tree. Quarter sawn oak known as wainscot have been in existence from 14th century onwards and it gave an entirely new dimension to the woodcrafts industry from the early parts of the 20th century.

Oak interior doors can be made of plain sawn oak wood or quarter sawn oak wood. Plain sawn wood is easier to produce because the work is faster and there is no waste of timber in it. The type of finish used on the door gives better results when used on a quarter-sawn surface, and liquid percolation is also less when oak is quarter sawn. This type of timber gets better as it ages.

Oak wood is hard, its tannin content is high, and it has a high level of resistance to insects and fungi. Oak interior doors, whether they are wood veneer, or solid wood, serve the purpose of inner doors by combining strength and beauty in equal measures.
