Hospitality industry is a broader term that includes, but not limited to, hotels, travel, event management, tourism, transportation and other related fields. Carrying recruitment for such a large industry is not an easy task for the recruiters, and most of them are still putting lots of time and efforts in recruiting manually.

Hospitality industry offers a very wide range of job positions both for blue collar jobs as well as white collar ones. These can be staff members, chefs, drivers, guides, admin, technical, creative, sales, marketing, management etc. And the best part is, these positions have good number of vacancies every time.

On an average, these sectors carry recruitment 4-5 times in a year. Commonly they conduct campus interviews for the college students of hotel management and other hospitality students. Posting job opening on job sites and newspapers is also a frequently used practice here for advertising about walk-ins. Looking at the type of positions usually open in this sector, social media is not completely effective to reach the desired target audience. The hiring process consists of ...
... various rounds, which includes verbal & written communication test, skills test, confidence testing and basic knowledge related to the field. The hiring team mainly focuses on the candidate’s personality and its pleasing behavioural ability to deal with the customers.

Even after completing school education, one can get placed in the hospitality industry if he fits all the requirements of the job. But there is no limit to the higher education a candidate can possess. Hospitality industry is very much open to hiring freshers in numbers equivalent to the experienced candidates. To meet the expected number of hirings, these companies also prefer working with recruitment agencies having expertise in such hirings.

The business model itself of such companies poses a big challenge among the recruiters. Most of the brands in this sector have their branch offices scattered throughout the country and even outside also. Thus it is getting difficult for management sitting at head offices to track the recruitment activities going on at each of their venues. If that’s not all, with so much of varied positions to fill, recruiters at each office are still involved in manual recruitment processes.

Online hr recruiting softwares have made it possible to handle recruitment in hospitality industry. Recruiters sitting at any location can now be connected with heads of the department on this platform. Sitting at one place, management can create and assign opening to any recruiter, and track the performance online. To ease up the hiring, recruiters can also get connected with the recruitment agencies they are working with. Online applicant tracking system helps recruiters track the applicants who are going through various stages of hiring at any location. Thus, recruitment in hospitality industry can be eased out with online tools.
