Getting organised is the key to successful time management, career management and achieving your own goal setting success. And some people are instinctively better at it than others, but that doesn't mean the rest of us can't reach that blissful state of organisation necessary for effective time management.

And the key is to integrate all your activities and jobs into one system, so all your personal commitmentsand business commitments are in the one system, along with action items for your goals. If you have different systems for your goal organisation, business planning and personal appointments, it's too easy to lose track of where you are and you may end up missing crucial deadlines or appointments.

And here are some really easy tips for getting organised. They may be easy, but you will be surprised by how effective even the simplest of organisational methods can be.

1. Prepare your own daily planners and schedules using standard software such as MS Excel or Word. You can then edit these templates digitally, or print them out and staple them into an organizer.

2. Use the To Do functions and ...
... calendars available on most email programs. These are particularly good if you use your computer all the time, and you can set them up to give you reminders. Include dates for payment of bills and personal appointments too.

3. Use a diary. There are some great traditional diary systems available. Many have an annual refill service, so you can bind up last years diary pages and keep for future reference.

And which ever method you utilize, it's only as good as the information you put in it. As well as integrating your personal, business and goal setting into the one organizational tool, don't forget to prioritise your activities so you always accomplish your most important ones first. Any of the less important activities you don't get done can always be done tomorrow.

You don't need to spend a lot of money on systems to get you organized. You can even prepare your own planners and schedules that won't cost you a cent. The key is finding something that works for you.
