When you decide to have koi live in your garden pond, you are basically deciding to have your backyard or front yard pond become what is called a koi pond. Your koi pond can house a number of many different types of this fish and can become a very attractive addition to your garden. The many different koi that you can have in your pond all have different names and different colors and descriptions, and mixing a few different types of this fish in your garden pond will give you and your family a lovely variety of fish to look at when you want to.

Some of the more popular koi that you can have in your koi pond include such types like the Ai Goromo and the Aka Bekko. These are both koi that have the color red on their bodies, but the former has a white body with red spots while the latter has a red body with black spots. Other koi types that have red all over its body include the Hi Utsuri, the Kohaku, and the Sanke, among others. The Hi Utsuri is a koi type that has a black body this time with red spots, the Kohaku is a snow white fish with red spots, and the Sanke is one that has a white body with both red and black spots ...
... on them. All these can be placed in your garden pond to give your pond that lovely variety of fish that have red on them.

Some of the solid-colored koi you can have in your garden pond to help make it into a koi pond include one of the oldest types of koi around, and this is the pale blue colored Asagi. Another solid-colored koi is the Gold Ogon, which is a type of fish that has a color that ranges from a metallic golden shade to a canary yellow one. This koi variety is also considered one of the oldest types around as well. Other solid colored koi that you can put in your garden pond include such varieties like the Cha Goi, which is a brown-colored koi and the Platinum Ogon, which is a silver-colored koi that will look good alongside its golden counterpart.

These many different varieties of koi can actually exist alongside each other in a single pond and can give your pond that kind of look that a good koi pond should have. You should remember however that most koi thrive in bigger and deeper ponds as compared to some of the smaller ponds that people keep them in. When you raise koi in a bigger pond, you give them the opportunity to achieve their full growth potential and you also allow them the kind of space that they need to be able to swim around freely and to stay healthy. If your garden pond is too small to raise koi in, you might want to consider putting goldfish in such a pond instead since goldfish can survive in smaller ponds better than koi can. If you really want to have a koi pond in your backyard or front yard, then you may need to build one from scratch and with specs that are ideal for them.

Raise koi in your garden pond and convert it into a lovely koi pond by putting a variety of koi fish in it.
