When the caller calls the company through any phone number the phone call is acknowledged by the switch of the end company which is connected to the available telephone line via the trunk call between the switch of the telephone company and the switch of the PBX also termed as Private Branch Exchange. Now later on the system looks for the number that is called and searches for the right extension number and relocates the incoming call directly to the right person, lessening the chances for the call to be picked up by someone else and then to be transmitted to the right person. This makes the caller feel that he/she is calling the concerned person directly instead of the office or the company. The number that is dialed inward is assigned to the communication gateway. It is connected by the trunk to PSTN and then the VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) Network.
The calls that instigate on the VoIP (Voice over internet protocol) network materialize to the users on the PSTN as they are originating from the direct inward dialing numbers that are assigned. Similar to Direct Inward dialing there is another system known as Direct Outward Dialing (DOD).
There are numerous companies which are working day in and out behind such system and making it worthwhile for the end users and thus boosting the business. With the installment of such software it helps handle the incoming traffic very effectively. Also, such services can be customized as per the requirement.
