Customized promotional products are a great marketing strategy for any business. It's important to be able to connect your brand to your target market, and putting promotional products in the hands of clients (or potential clients) is one of the most effective ways to do so. They're the best way to advertise your business, provide logo and name recognition, give contact numbers and more. Promotional products can make your marketing campaign better, help you advertise a new product, build your brand, increase sales, increase customer loyalty and much, much more.

Unfortunately, for those interested in using promotional products as part of their marketing campaign, there are literally thousands of options. However, for a promotional product to do fulfill its potential, it's imperative that the product match your company and message. - Is it usable? - Useful products are big winners, which is why things like mugs, magnets and yes, pens, are always received well. The more useful it is in conjunction with your company, the better it will be received.

- What are you trying to achieve? - Your customized promotional products should be chosen with an eye towards what you're trying to achieve with the marketing campaign. Are you promoting a new product or service, or are you just trying to create better brand recognition? New products might do better if you choose something that would be useful with your new product, while brand recognition can be accomplished with a pen or mug.

- What are your budgetary considerations? - Obviously, some customized promotional products cost more than others do. Always keep in mind what your budget is, how many promotional products you plan to buy and how far you want your marketing campaign to reach.

- Does it match the company image? - Your company image is part of your brand. You want people to see your logo or name and associate it with the image. Are you trying to spread a message of loyalty, honesty and service? If so, would could a mug pass this message on?

- Does it match the target audience? - This question goes along with a good reception. If your target audience is comprised of computer technicians, you want your customized promotional product to be something that particular audience can use - perhaps a mouse pad, a mouse or a custom USB drive would be appropriate.

- Will it leave an impression? - Because the main purpose for customized promotional products is to build a good impression, you obviously want to make sure that good impression sticks with the consumer. Choose a product that will leave a strong, positive and, above all, lasting, impression!

- Should you use brand name promotional products or not? - Brand name products can often be used as promotional products, but will they fit your needs? A brand name customized promotional product tells the consumer that you truly appreciate their custom. Why? Because you're attaching your company name to a brand name product with proven quality. However, some brands are your direct competitors, you may be capitalizing on the idea that you're company is unique, or you may not have the budget. There are definite pros and cons to using brand name promotional products.

Once you have your promotional product idea, choose what you're going to put on it. Will it have a tagline? Will it have the company logo? Whatever you put on it, make sure you don't fill the promotional product up with your company information. It looks gaudy, cheap and, to many customers, like a cry of desperation. Answer the questions above, keeping in mind the information you're going to share. This can help you narrow the possibilities down to get a winning customized promotional product your customers will love!
