Spb TV is a must have software for the TV loving traveler on the go. With almost 105 channels from more than 17 countries, you will never have to miss the latest new headlines, sports programs, or a wide variety of shows that you like to watch. Most of the channels are in English, a few in Russian, and a handful in French, German, and other languages. Spb TV requires approximately 4MB of storage space, and can be installed via Active Sync, or Windows mobile device center. Spb tv supports touch screen navigation, as well as button navigation for non-touch screen devices. It requires a high speed data connection on your phone, so it will be best if you are in a 3G coverage area, or have your phone connected to a Wi-Fi access point. Spb TV does a great job of compression, and you can also raise or lower the stream quality during play to suit your connection.

The interface of Spb TV is attractive and very easy to use. On the main screen, the list of channels are displayed at the bottom of the screen, which you can scroll through by sliding you finger across the screen. As you select a channel icon below, the main display above will present a static preview image indicating what is playing on that channel. The preview image is updated every few seconds, and you can simply tap the image to open the player to that channel. Spb TV will either display in normal mode which is 348Kbps or low mode which will be 204Kbps, depending upon your available bandwidth. When using the lower quality mode, there might be a bit more pixelization, but still renders remarkably well, and is still quite viewable for long periods of time.



While watching a particular channel you can tap on the screen to access the viewing controls. A see-through menu appears over the player, and the menu options allow you to activate PIP(Picture in picture). Here you can adjust the volume, brightness, sound, or simply exit the channel. You can also adjust the playback quality by using the arrow icon on the menu, this comes in very handy when you are in an area without a strong signal, or you just want o conserve bandwidth. The PIP brings up the channel list similar to the main menu screen, but the preview images are moved to the side, and the current channel still plays in the back, while you browse the channel list.



Spb TV also has a TV guide feature, and if a guide is included for a channel, it will appear in the info/guide section under the player. Tapping the info area will bring up a weekly schedule of broadcasts for that channel. This is a great way learn what each channel has to offer as content, and also see what language it is being broadcast in as well. You can use the options menu to filter out some channels, so that you can scroll around the main screen much more efficiently.

Spb TV provides a wide selection of public channels, so you will not have to worry about paying a subscription free. And as more stations broadcast over ip, you can be sure that Spb will be adding more public channels to the already impressive list. And for a low price of $14.95 this is one software that is a must buy.
