Excellent Punk Percussionists Of The Past Decade

At the start of the list is a comparatively new drummer, a few may dispute that he isn't actually a punk drummer and more of a metal one but I disagree, true he's keen to calm it down and do some metal fills but at heart he's genuinely a punk-
Steve Jocz -AKA "Stevo"
Born July 23, 1981. Steve is most renowned for his work in the Canadian punk group Sum 41. An exceptionally speedy and awkward drummer, he knows how to alter the tone of a song instantaneously. Only one of the small number of punk drummers that is able to play cheesy metal rolls and get away with handling it. He is also notorious for his lavatory humour which is a definite sign of punk maturity/immaturity- you decide!
Travis Barker
Born on November 14, 1975. Possibly best renowned for his work in Blink 182 he has also drummed for many other bands. Travis sits in at no 4 not simply as for his talented speed and timing but for his wide collection of techniques from Hip-hop to Punk, Pop to even Country.
Tré Cool (real name Frank Edwin Wright III)
Born December 9, 1972. Tré is one of the original (pretty much) 3 piece which makes ...
... up Green Day. Leaning much closer to the pop section of punk as a drummer, Tré certainly aided Green Day achieve the universal audience that thrust them to superstars. If he been just an extra, high speed, unoriginal drummer the group might have struggled to attract such a huge marketplace.
Josh Freese
Born Xmas Day, 1972. Freese is most renowned for his work in The Vandals but can list many other bands and accomplishments. A high speed drummer capable of slowing it right down and merge with the best and has played for Kelly Clarkson, Avril Lavigne and Guns N' Roses as if to demonstrate the point. Josh's solo works also present a slower, more refrained drumming manner proving that a fast pace isn't all but personally I favour the Vandals noise.
Erik Sandin-AKA "Smelly"
Born July 29, 1966. He is the lasting drummer for NOFX. He was a founder member of the group but left 2 years after in 1983. In 1986 Sandin was convinced to re-unite with the group but suffered from heroin dependence until 1992 when he checked into a rehab clinic and has been clean constantly since. Whilst Erik may not be the top of many people's list, for any person who loves the flawlessness of NOFX then there is no rival.

Even though Nik has grown up (a little) and uses his days dreaming of doing stupid things like http://www.cheeserolling.co.uk again he misses the lifestyle of a punk rocker. He's so grown up he's even started listening to http://www.einaudi.co.uk!
