Out of all of the businesses that carry different kinds of laundry, one of the biggest places would have to be hospitals. Not only do they have to carry so many different kinds of linens, but they have to make sure that they are all sterile and sanitary after each and every use. This can be a ridiculously huge responsibility. This is why hospitals use linen services as opposed to trying to tackle all of their laundry on their own. That is just way too much laundry for any facility to be able to handle on their own. Some locations do have laundry rooms in the basement with their own staff, but most hospitals this day in age use hospital linen services to make sure that all of their linens are handled appropriately.

The nice thing about using a hospital linen service is that, once it is set up, the location doesn't even have to think about it again. A schedule is set up so that the hospital knows exactly when the linen service will be coming out again to help replenish their linens and take their old soiled ones back to their facility. Another great thing about these linen services is that they make sure everything is sanitized ...
... and sterilized properly. When working in a place that has so many sick people coming and going, it is crucial to make sure that everything is sterilized in the most appropriate way possible. No one wants to go to the hospital and have to worry about whether or not their gown is going to get them sicker than they already are.

There is also the fact that if something happens to the linens, they will be replaced appropriately by the service provider. When a contract is set up between a hospital and their linen service, the company is responsible for making sure that all linens are delivered properly and on time. This means if they pick up the soiled linens and notice that one of them has a hole in it, when they bring the new, clean linens, the old ripped one will be replaced in order to maintain the amount of linens that are needed to keep the hospital functioning properly.

Working in the medical field is stressful enough. There are so many things that seem more important and more urgent that the linens in the facility, but because every patient uses the linens, they unfortunately aren't something that can be put off to the side. It would be impossible for a hospital to keep up with the laundry if they were trying to do everything on their own. This is why hospital linen services are present, and why we won't see them going away anytime soon!
