With Apple Inc. products, you can be sure about getting your money’s worth. The iPad is a line of tablet computers manufactured and distributed by Apple Inc. In keeping with the company’s design ethos, the iPad is minimal in design, and features a large, clear screen in a thin aluminium body. It’s wide screen makes it perfect for watching videos, browsing the net, and playing games. Besides these, the iPad offers a number of additional services that have helped make it one of the fastest selling tablets in the market today.

1st generation iPad- First released in 2010, the iPad first generation tablet features an Apple A4 processor, a 9.7 touchscreen display, and the 3-axis accelerometer that enables the device to detect when it is being moved or tilted. The first generation iPad was powered by the same operating device as the iPhone and featured the same apps. Equipped with 16 GB, 32 GB, or 64 GB of memory space, the device was available with two connectivity options- Wi-Fi only or Wi-Fi and Cellular.

2nd generation iPad- Released in 2011, the 2nd generation iPad featured front and rear cameras, a faster ...
... processor, more memory space, a gyroscope, video conferencing abilities, and was 33 times thinner and 15 times lighter than the first generation iPad. The device was powered by a lithium-ion polymer battery that lasts up to 10 hours. The initial iPad 2 operated on iOS 4.3, which has now been updated to iOS 8 on June 2, 2014. Quite to its advantage, this is the only iOS device that supports five major versions of iOS.

3rd generation iPad- Released in 2012, the 3rd gen iPad featured a retina display, with double the pixel density of the previous model. The tablet also came with improved rear camera, more memory space, the new Apple A5X chip with a quad-core graphics processor, HD 1080p video recording, voice dictation, and support for LTE networks in North America. It operated on iOS 5.1 which enables audio-visual media such as e-books, films, music, computer games, presentations, and other web content. This model allows sharing its internet connection over Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or USB, provided it is a Wi-Fi + Cellular model.

4th generation iPad- Released on November, 2012, this model maintained the retina display but featured upgraded and new components such as the Apple A6X chip, and the Lightning connector. It operated using iOS 6.0. Memory storage space includes 16 GB, 32 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB. Connectivity options are available with Wi-Fi only and Wi-Fi + Cellular with LTE capabilities. The 4th gen iPad is also designed to perform CPU-reliant tasks with more efficiency as it predecessor.

iPad Air- This fifth generation iPad was released in 2013, November 1. Initially, this model operated using iOS 7.0.3. This has now been updated to iOS 7.1.2. Other features include: built-in rechargeable Li-Po battery, optional iBooks application, Siri, including the other existing apps. However, the biggest advantage of the iPad Air is that it is twice as powerful as its predecessor and has the slim factor as the iPad Mini.

iPad Mini- Released on November 2, 2012. It displays similar features as the iPad 2 and was shipped with iOS 6.0. The 2nd gen iPad Mini was updated with iOS 7 and Apple Inc. is working on upgrading it with iOS 8 when they introduce their new model in late 2014.
