Sinusitis
Sinusitis is a common disease caused due to inflammation of the mucus membrane which lines the Para nasal sinuses and it happens basically as a result of acute viral infection and also to those who have autoimmune problems, allergies and as such. Depending on its period of sufferings it can be subdivided into many categories which are as follows:
• Acute rhinosinusitis- a new infection that usually stays for four weeks or one month. It is usually precipitated by an early case of upper respiratory tract infections, caused predominantly by rhinoviruses and influenza viruses. This may also result from fungal infections, which can be commonly seen in patients suffering from diabetes and other low immunity power diseases like that of AIDS.
• Subacute rhinosinusitis- this infection lasts for 1 month to 3 months. The symptoms and causing agents are basically the same as that of the acute rhinosinusitis. Just stay a little longer.
• Chronic rhinosinusitis- when an infection lasts more than 3 months persistently it is called. In this case symptoms include nasal congestion, ...

Signs & Symptoms
The signs and symptoms are very discomforting to its victims if not always very serious ones. Patients are not able to breathe properly through their noses and faces respiratory troubles. They usually complain of a sharp pain in their facial regions and generally are accompanied by acute headaches. The pain is typically centered on the involved sinus which may worsen while the affected person tries to bend over or lie down. This causes much discomfort to the patient. Nasal discharge often showing traces of blood can also be seen in this case. To the extreme positions person affected can complain of the infection of the eye socket which may result in the unfortunate loss of sight. Fever and severe illness can also be expected under such conditions.
Diagnosis
Diagnoses for acute and chronic Sinusitis Treatment are different and needs to be done carefully to come with the best solutions available.
• Under acute sinusitis there are two kinds of infections caused differently by viruses and bacteria. For viral infections stay for 10 days only, whereas bacterial sinusitis lasts more than 10 days. Until and unless complications develop, X RAY, CT SCAN OR MRI is not generally recommended.
• For chronic sinusitis a CT SCAN is prescribed to understand the situation even better from closer angles. Nasal Endoscopy and clinical symptoms are taken into consideration for correct diagnosis. In extreme cases, initiatives may be taken to do sinusoscopy which will be effective in positive diagnosis of the condition of the patient.
Treatment For Sinusitis
In general antibiotics are not prescribed in minor cases of Sinusitis Treatment problems and some other alternatives that can be available at home only are suggested for. Taking proper rest and drinking enough water are recommended for making thin the nasal discharges. Also breathing moderate-temperature steam is encouraged from hot showers and nasal irrigation are advised which will help effectively in clearing the nasal blockages. Gargling with lukewarm water with hints of added salt also clears the throat and stops coughing. Nasal sprays can be used also but with proper precautions and very carefully as overdoses and prolonged uses may worsen the condition even more.
• Antibiotics- antibiotics are prescribed by doctors if the signs and symptoms make the affected person suffer for more than 10 days. To begin the treatment of sinusitis amoxicillin is very effective and a good choice.
• Surgery- when the conditions go beyond our hand and the situation cannot be improved by mere nasal sprays or any kind of oral medicines, then surgery is the only way left to be explored to find a lasting solution to the problems of sinusitis. An Otolaryngologist is specialized in dealing with these severe medical cases.
