Just like olives and olive oil is synonymous with Greek cuisine, cheese too is a very important ingredient. There are very few households in Greece that does not include cheese in their daily diet. According to folklore, the art of cheese making was a gift from god and to this day the popularity of cheese from this region is well known around the world. There are several types of cheese; to be used for different occasions as well as for the various dishes. The list of Greek cheese products is unending and each of them is packed with taste and nutrition. There are many wholesale food product retailers who sell these products online.

Cheese In Various Forms

One of the most famous cheeses is Feta cheese. It comes in a whole variety like sharp to mild as well as semi-hard to semi-soft. It is consumed in different forms –as an appetizer, in baked goods, as a table cheese or teamed with fruit as well as in main courses. There are many delicious desserts that use this cheese as its main ingredient. Some of the Greek cheese products that can be purchased in stores or from online stores are the smoked version or ...
... the parmesan cheese or Gruyere cheese. These and all the other cheeses are rich in taste and flavour and are an important part of the Greek cuisine.

The Nutrition Value Of Feta Cheese

The popular feta cheese is high in nutrition. It is made mostly of sheep milk or sheep and goat milk. It adds a great taste when added to salads due to its tangy taste. Since sheep’s milk is rich in vitamins and minerals this cheese is more nutritious. It has high levels of calcium, magnesium, manganese, iron and potassium which are all very important for our health. Too much of anything is most certainly not recommended and the same goes for feta cheese, but a regular addition of this cheese to the diet is indeed beneficial.

Natural Foods Better Than Supplements

To lead a healthy life it is important that we eat a healthy and nutritious diet. Research says that though many of these nutrients can be obtained by the use of supplements, those acquired from natural food has a better effect. It is for that very reason that the consumption of dairy products is necessary to maintain bone health. A wedge of feta cheese is packed with nutrition and is a good addition to one’s diet.
