Cervical spondylosis normally affects the joints in the neck. This is normally an age-related disorder that affects individuals after a certain age. If not treated properly, it may lead to spondylolysis. There are several factors that are taken into account with this kind of spondylopathy. In this article we give you information how to cure cervical spondylosis.

Causes

There are several reasons that are behind this kind of spondylopathy. Most of them are age and genetic-related with rare cases dealing with previous trauma to it. Our body loses the tendency to repair the wear and tear of the material that makes up our body as we grow older. Habits like excessive drinking and smoking will also lead to cervical spondylosis. Thus a small injury or force can cause spondylolysis to occur if not taken good care. One way to cure cervical spondylosis is to prolong the health of the bones.

1. Hot and cold treatment

Normally, a hot and cold treatment procedure is done to reduce the swelling and pain. With this kind of treatment, the swelling that causes the pain normally reduces enough to allow a proper blood ...
... flow through the affected area. This kind of treatment works for most spondylopathy disorders to reduced the pain and swelling on a daily basis.

2. Physical therapy

Physical therapy is taken place to ensure that the muscles around the affected area received proper stretching. Stretching and strengthening the weakened or strained muscles will enable them to get strong enough to support the neck. This is normally the first spondylosis treatment advised. This therapy will include a cervical traction and posture therapy programs that last anywhere between 6 to 8 weeks. This physical therapy should be undertaken even after the disorder has healed to ensure that the muscles are still strong to prevent spondylolysis from occurring. A digital spine analysis will normally help in this procedure

3. Medication

Certain medication is taken as a process for spondylosis treatment. Normally this is taken to reduce the swelling and pain around the affected area and prevent discomfort. A combination of medications will be used initially, to reduce the pain and speed up the healing process. Muscle relaxants will also be used to reduce muscle spasms if they occur. The medication should be prescribed by the doctor or specialist.

4. Soft collar

A soft collar is used to support the head and reduce the pressure on the neck, allowing the spondylopathy to heal. This collar limits the motions of the neck and allows the muscles to rest and heal properly. However, this collar should be worn only for a short period of time as it may lead to muscle atrophy.

5. Conventional treatment

Conventional treatments like yoga and acupuncture are normally used for spondylosis treatment. However, this should be undertaken by trained specialists only.
