Manage Your To Do List Like A Person With Project Management Certification

You are the boss of your to-do List
It is important to remember that the person who creates the To-Do List is in-charge and must know how to organize them in the right fashion. The small task of handling the personal and work related tasks by filtering it down to a simple to-do list, helps you accomplish complex tasks with ease. PMI conducts a PMP® Exam that certifies a Project Manager based on their Project Management experience.
Here are a few simple steps to manage a To-Do List without being overwhelmed by it.
1. List out all possible Tasks – The first step would be, to list all possible tasks like Current Tasks, Future Tasks, Personal Tasks, Work Related Tasks and Vocational and Vacation Tasks. Now separate them as Personal and Professional Task Sheets. Good Project Management Professionals taking Project Management Institute PMP Exam know that a well maintained To-Do list is an encouraging motivator for the Project Managers.
2. Club them Into ...
... High and Low Priorities – Once you have two major task sheets labeled as Personal and Professional, it is time to separate them under High Priority or Low Priority tasks.
3. Separate them into four Quadrants – The next step is to take the high priority tasks and split them into four different category.
a. important and urgent Tasks
b. Important and Not Urgent Tasks
c. Not Important and Urgent Tasks
d. Not Important and Not Urgent Tasks
Once the tasks are split into the relative different categories, now look at the low priority tasks and also split them into four different categories. By this time you would now have a lot of low or high priority tasks which can be either delegated or assigned to the back burner.
4. Log in your Task Completion – Once the To-Do List has the right amount of vital and important tasks it is now important to self-assign these tasks and remember to check mark of all those that have been completed. Keep a track record of your completed tasks for the future analysis. PMI Institute’s exam qualifies Project Managers who have shown greater capabilities for handling huge tasks in a Project by splitting it into smaller tasks and having a logged record of those that were completed.
5. Weekly Remove Old and Completed Tasks – As the week passed by, remember to remove redundant and completed tasks. This will keep your To-Do List current and updated. It would be motivational, to see a huge task being reduced to manageable smaller tasks which are removed on the weekly basis. This results in a positive feeling of having made progress with your huge project.
6. Create a Task Accomplishment Trend – Using the details of your list of completed tasks, create a task accomplishment trend and track your effectiveness in To-Do List. PMI Certification provides the much needed thumbs up for proving the Project Management capabilities of Project Manager who has an upscale Accomplishment trend.
7. Plan to tackle the issues – The pending tasks in your To-Do List provides the required information about what has gone wrong in your List. Find the loopholes and potholes of the To-Do list and learn from the mistakes.
It could be said that a well-managed To-Do Task List ensures that the huge tasks of a project are broken down into manageable smaller tasks. Keeping a current and update To-do list assures that the Project Managers accomplish what they set out to complete as per their plan.
