The Breadth covers all the five areas of civil engineering like construction, geotechnical, structural, transportation and water resources and environmental. When the Evening session of Depth exam covers a single area of practice more closely.

Here is how you could prepare for the PE Civil Exam.

1. Register for Your PE Civil Exam with NCEES – Visit the website of NCEES and follow the procedure of registering for the PE Civil Exam and pay the required fee to take the exam. You may have to review your state’s approval and registration process to register for the exam.

... PE Review Courses in the market. Trying to tackle the PE Civil Exam on your own might be daunting with just the old Engineering textbook. The PE Exam for civil engineering is divided into two parts – Morning and Evening Sessions. An old Engineering Textbook may not provide you with the required information to tackle the learning in a Review mode.

3. Select the Right PE Exam Prep – It is important to select the right PE Exam Prep Course that provide flexibility and good training in tackling the pertinent questions asked in the PE Exam.

4. Test-run your test taking skills – As you study for the PE Civil Exam try some of the practice sample Exam questions to find out if you are able to handle the pressures of test-taking.

5. Joint Study – When you select a Review Course you might find someone who is also taking PE Civil Exam with the same Depth subject. Have a combined study with the fellow PE Prep Course takers. You would be able to synergize with the peers to get more benefit from your Civil PE study.

If you follow the above five steps you would be able to take the PE Civil Exam with your specific depth subject and gain the PE Licensure.
