Pirastro Violin Strings - Quality And Consistency
Pirastro creates consistent and high quality strings for violins, violas and cellos as only a successful 300-year-old company can.
Pirastro makes gut, synthetic and steel strings for violins, violas and cellos. Players of all levels use their strings, but the company boasts a great many renowned classical artists that use their strings exclusively. They also make strings for basses, harps and guitars. These strings are made by hand in Germany, where Pitastro has become a world-recognized string manufacturer.
Giorgio Pirazzi founded Pirastro in Italy in 1798 before moving to Germany, setting first in Frankfurt and then in Offenbach where the company is headquartered today. As the company grew larger and more influential, Gustav Pirazzi, the grandson of Giorgio, partnered with a friend, Theodor Strobel, to create the Pirastro brand. This they did by combining the first four letters of each of their last names.
Today, Pirastro is still run by the Pirazzi family, the sixth generation of the Pirazzi family to lead the successful firm.
Pirastro Strings ...
... is all about choices. They offer a comprehensive product line of violin strings, viola strings, cello strings and more. Strings are available in 14 varieties and are appropriate for beginning, intermediate and advanced players, as well as higher level performers and concert artists. This being true, Pirastro offers a wide range of the highest quality strings for instruments of different sizes.
Gut violin strings are available under the Passione, Olive, Gold, Eudoxa and Chorda labels. Gut strings, in general, are thought to possess greater tuning stability. They tend to produce full, rich and warm sounds capable of a wide range of volume and projection.
Synthetic violin strings are available under the Evah Pirazzi, Obligato, Violino, Aricore and Tonica labels. Because they are synthetic strings, they tend to be resistant to humidity and temperature changes. These strings are typically the "string of choice" for soloists owning to the powerful, intense sound they produce. More so even that the gut strings, these synthetic strings can produce a lot of volume and projection with clear brilliance.
Steel strings are available under the Flexocor, Piranito and Chromcor labels. These strings are generally considered the easiest to play and are often recommended to student players for increased playability, including a non-whistling E string. While they produce bright, brilliant tones and good volume, they are not comparable to the synthetic or gut strings, though they have their appropriate applications.
Regardless of which string or string set one purchases, Pirastro offers quality and consistency that comes only from having practiced their craft for well over 300 years.
