Popularity of wood garage doors is everlasting and has been the choice of homeowners since the garage has become a part of a house. Though other options of steel, copper, vinyl and aluminium garage doors have been available for more than two decades; wood has been able to retain its popularity due to longevity, technical aspects and visual appeal. It can also be operated automatically or with remote control in the same way as entrances made of other materials available in the market today.

Wooden garage doors can be custom built to fit any size or shape and can be easily adjusted to suit non-level garage floor or overhead arches. Since they are not pre-manufactured, option of windows can be accommodated to allow daytime light into the garage. These wooden garage entries can withstand occasional pressures and do not dent or crack like steel or vinyl doors. Proper maintenance and advances made in natural material treatment increases longevity by securing against bending, distorting and rotting.

Timber doors are easier to repair because it won't dent and can be restored and fixed by replacing the damaged portion, ...
... rather than having to substitute the entire fixture in case of metallic or vinyl group products. Wooden doors are made of solid wood boards milled to specific thickness and glued, planed and channeled to the legs and rails of the door panel, without any inner framework or fasteners. A simple structure that can be easily installed with basic carpentry tools.

Wood garage doors can withstand high temperature fluctuation and act as a natural insulation against heat and cold. These carport doors provide extra protection from the full fury of the elements. Wood also acts as a deterrent against noise pollution if you are living in a busy and noisy neighborhood. The doors dampen the sound compared to any other garage door.

Wood is the foremost choice of homeowners and architects for their aesthetic quality. Architects love it as it can be shaped easily to customizable features and blend it with the exterior of the building and homeowners consider it a good investment to enhance a home's value. More over wood is easy to paint and after a certain period can be repainted to give a new look.

In spite of all the benefits wood garage doors do have certain drawbacks. Scarcity and prohibitive cost of solid wooden garage door is a deterrent. Unless the wood is solid it cannot provide the required insulation and withstand the rigors of extreme weather conditions. Regular maintenance is necessary to prevent damage and rotting compared to other door products. Solid wooden doors are heavier and for safe opening and closing automatically, heavy automatic door opener with proper-sized garage door springs are necessary.

A wooden garage door is still an attractive proposition for simple construction and retention of beauty with age, ensuring visual appeal and structural integrity. As an aesthetic product, it gives enjoyment and beauty, for a lifetime and generations to come.

People like wood and wooden garage doors are a fabulous attraction. Even today we love wooden garage doors.
