I've eaten in every barbecue joint in South Carolina that's worth trying and more than my share of the ones that weren't. You can bet your short ribs I know a thing or two about Barbecue.

You could wake me from a dead sleep and I'll mix up a bunch of barbeque sauce which'll reform your existence. I know the best sugar and white vinegar sauce, the best tomato base sauce and the finest absolutely-to-die-for traditional Carolina style mustard base sauce. Don't bother taking me to the hospital if I'm ever in a car wreck and need a transfusion. They cannot help me. Get me to the closest authentic, down home barbeque joint and plug me right into a bottle of barbeque sauce.

I'll admit, when most people think of Florence, they don't think of highbrow cuisine. They probably think of tobacco or cotton or the dang highway and just getting on down the road. Last night on the news, a national restaurant chain admitted to putting the same ingredient in their sandwich buns that's used to make foam neoprene yoga mats.

Right here's the best way you can easily tell the difference between good food and foam neoprene. If the ...
... food you're eating reminds you of a church supper on the grounds, why, that is truly good food. , if it reminds you of a television commercial spit it out.. It most likely has rubber in it and goodness knows what else. You just better get your tail in the nearest Baptist church if you don't know what a church dinner on the grounds is. Afro-american or white, it really don't make no difference, but get in there and get saved. We can talk barbecue.

There's several chain barbeque joints in town and one snuck up directly from Georgia, although it ain't all bad. You'll do fine if you go to any of these types of establishments, however, you can easily eat conglomerate restaurant barbeque just about anyplace. When you're in Florence why not treat yourself to some real, South Carolina style barbecue along with a Florence flare. Broaden your gastronomical horizons and get a little bit of down home heritage to boot.

Here's a secret about barbecue joints in Florence only the locals know. I may lose my Palmetto Barbecue Association membership, but the truth must be told and I ain't afraid. In Florence, only the true blue, genuine, bona fide, raised in the South barbecue joints serve Chicken Bog.

I'm not intending to explain to you just what Chicken Bog is. You will have to learn on your own. I'll just say you really don't want to miss it and you can not find it anyplace else.

Now, allow me to tell you about the serious barbecue dining establishments in Florence South Carolina. Some of them are almost famous, but a few of the very best one's are under wraps. I am simply just willing to tell you about the two very best ones.

The first restaurant I 'd visit if I was exploring Florence is Wholly Smokin' Ribs over on 1261 Celebration Boulevard in Florence. Bill Travis manages Wholly Smokin' and this guy is literally just like the Rainman of Barbeque. In case you meet him, you'll most probably think he does not have a lick of sense, but once you savor his barbeque you'll know you are truly in the presence of a barbeque expert. Bill's barbeque is literally so good it'll make a Yankee move south. Give Wholly Smokin' a stab and find out on your own. Call in advance at 843-407-7545.

In case you've already tried Wholly Smokin and are set for an additional punch of barbecue utopia, get across to Roger's Barbecue. Roger's barbecue is simply dang good, but you'll wish to try his deep-fried chicken too and his Mac and Cheese. You'll find Roger's Barbeque at 2004 2nd LP Road in Florence, or give them a call at 843-673-2727.

A barbecue secret police SWAT team just pulled in my driveway. Listen, you got to stop chewing on neoprene foam rubber and give the barbecue restaurants in Florence a try.
