Businesses use cranes to erect buildings every day. These cranes are rented or purchased for large sums of money, but this expensive machinery must rest on crane mats while on the job. The site foreman must remember each of the four items below when they set up their cranes to ensure everyone's safety.

Fact #1: Crane Mats Keep The Ground Level

The use of a mat for a crane helps to keep the ground below the crane level. Cranes are extremely heavy pieces of machinery that leave their mark on the ground if they do not sit on a mat. As the construction project moves around the lot, the marks left by a crane can become a problem during construction. The mats create the appearance that the crane was never there.

Fact #2: The Crane Is Safer On A Mat

The timber mats that are used for cranes help to keep cranes level and stable. Cranes lift and carry heavy items during the day, and that lifting impacts everyone on the site. As the crane rests on the mat, the crane is assured of being on stable ground. People working at the site are safer if the crane is not in danger ...
... of tipping over.

Fact #3: The Mats Are Easy To Use

Wooden crane mats are easy to setup, move and use. The foreman on a construction site can lay down mats in every location where cranes are needed. Once the mats are in place, the crane can be driven right onto the mat with ease. This allows for the site to change the location of the cranes quickly. Also, the mats are easy to move, and they can be given back when the job is done.

Facet #4: Cranes Require Protection

Rented cranes require the construction company to invest in protection for their units. These mats help to keep the cranes stable, but they also keep the crane from making a hole or dent in the ground. If the crane sinks low enough, it could be damaged. Construction companies renting this equipment will have to pay for repairs. The crane mat helps to prevent these problems with such expensive rental equipment.

Mats for cranes are an essential part of the construction process. Construction workers cannot safely operate cranes without mats in place, and construction companies cannot keep the cranes safe without a mat. Purchasing or renting these mats makes every new construction job safer. Plus, the construction is able to protect their invest in heavy machinery rentals or purchases.
