Born in Kitchener, Ontario on April 24, 1943, David Morrell knew he wanted to become an author as early as sixteen years old. “Route 66” was the television program that inspired him to enter the field of writing. In 1966, David Morrell relocated from Ontatio to the United States to pursue his studies at the Pennsylvania State University. It was in the same university that he received his Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in American literature. In 1970, David Morrell started his profession as a professor of English at the University of Iowa. A couple of years after, he wrote his first novel that turned out to be a success. Let’s take a look at some of the books written by David Morrell:

FIRST BLOOD
First Blood was the first novel written by David Morrell and this was released in 1972. Not a lot of people know that the movie Rambo was based on First Blood. The lead character in First Blood is, of course, named Rambo who is a veteran of the Vietnam War. The story begins with Rambo’s interest in hitch hiking. He keeps on coming back to Madison, ...
... Kentucky even though he knows that he’s not supposed to go back there. Until such time that he gets arrested and jailed. Such experience allows him to remember his life in Vietnam and the story starts to revolve here. The difference of First Blood from the Rambo movie is that in the former, Rambo died whereas he lives in the films.

THE HUNDRED-YEAR CHRISTMAS
David Morrell also released his fantasy novel in 1983 which was published by Donald M. Grant, Publisher, Inc. The illustrator and cover artist of The Hundred-Year Christmas was R. J. Krupowicz. The plot of The Hundred-Year Christmas revolves around the friendship of Father Christmas and Father Time. Father Time lives only for a year while Father Christmas lives for a hundred.

THE BROTHERHOOD OF THE ROSE
In May 1984, David Morrell released the book The Brotherhood of the Rose. The genre of this book is spy thriller, which was published by St. Martin’s Press. The Brotherhood of the Rose is the first book of the trilogy released by David Morrell. The two other books that form part of the trilogy are The Fraternity of Stone and The League of Night and Fog. Just like First Blood, The Brotherhood of the Rose was also adapted for a movie, but this time a television movie.
