Printed Circuit Boards Their Manufacturing And Assembly
Printed Circuit Boards:
One of the important components of modern day electronics like Mobile, Laptop, PC and many other devices is Printed Circuit Board. The invention of PCB revolutionized the electronic devices particularly size and efficacy. The PCBs are actually boards, which are made up of insulated material like reinforced glass, composite epoxy, fiberglass and other laminate materials. It mechanically supports the electronic pathways. Conductive pathways are etched through various methods to ensure connectivity. It supports resistors, transistors and other circuits. Most of the time the PCB are the foundation of many a circuits, as they all are mounted on to it.
PCBs Manufacturing:
Complex structures are firmly fixed in a PCB; hence the manufacturing of it is most critical. The Printed circuits are of various sizes, depending on the device it is being made for and the complexity of the function of the device. Larger boards are generally manufactured by machines and few tiny boards are manufactured manually. The essential components of production of CBs include design preparation, CAM ...
... reading of the design, panelization, inserting of copper tracks onto it, testing, lamination, coating and Printing. Panelization is generally used for manufacturing of very tiny PCBs. Instead of making one by one, multiple circuit boards are made on a single large board and separated. These are mostly simple type of boards. The PCBs are of two types according to manufacturing process single layer boards and multiple layered boards. The multiple layer boards demand rigorous testing even while making, as the parts closed in the circuits can’t be repaired or corrected afterwards. It is followed by etching of copper tracks. Various methods are used to etch copper tracks to ensure conducting pathways. The single large copper sheet infused into the board is removed through acid, wherever it is not required. Testing of all inner components and laminating follows next. Coating and printing its specification are the last things to be done in the manufacturing.
Assembly:
The assembly of Printed Circuit Boards is carried out in two methods. These include hole-through and surface-mount technique. In the hole through method the components to be placed on the boards are inserted through drilling in to the board, whereas in the surface mount method different components are placed between the various layers and the leads are exposed to the surface so as to connect and complete the circuits. In the hole through method the component is firmly fixed and withstands physical pressure. The surface mount assembly is used for multilayer PCBS.
