In the older days, uses of double doors were many, especially in the farm houses, where animals were kept. In some traditional homes also, the upper part of the doors was kept separate with the lower halves and helped in unique designs being created. To have a stable shaped door in the present day scenario is not feasible as such houses are not found, but the concept of two piece door still can be found in most places. These are not exactly designed to have splitting nowadays, but their designs are different in the upper and lower halves.

• Different sections in the stable doors for unique appearances

To help with the design process, the doors are having separate sections in the upper and lower halves. Even though they are made from the single piece of wood or manufactured by putting together different pieces, it has been seen that the panelling work becomes quite handy in such scenarios. Panels are large or small pieces of wood or synthetic materials, which are fixed along with the framework of the door. They can be shaped in different ways, so that the design is somewhat unique in most areas of the doors. ...
... Making of these kinds of doors is a bit difficult always, because of the different methods of fixing the upper and lower walls. But, with the single framework, it is easier for suspending the doors, on the hooks, while the double opening doors will have much trouble related to suspension.

• Split patterns found to be commonest in the designs

When the stable doors are designed, owners tend to fix them in different varieties across the house. Starting from internal doors to the oak external doors, most of them can have split patterns by having separate designs in the upper half, while keeping the door solid with simple engravings in the lower half. Such doors in the modern houses can have sufficient amount of strength and solidity, while at the same time, giving beautiful appearance to the designs of these doors.

• Possibility of plenty of designs and panels on the stable doors of modern days

Whenever there is the need to have well designed doors and windows, it is worthy to try out the stable doors because of the myriad designs that can be put up in such kinds of doors. A few of such doors can be decorated with glazed tiles, glasses and rough or opaque structures. Finish on the polish can be matte or glossy, resulting in the shiny or smooth appearance. Like any other wood doors, the stable doors also have lots of wood, but this is limited mostly to the lower parts. Hence, in such doors, the lower part is stronger and thicker than the upper region, thereby making sure that the doors are stable enough.

Over the years, the concept of stable doors has changed significantly. Some many put these in the farmhouses nowadays, but these are more often used as stylish decor for interior and exterior doors. Due to their ability to be designed in different colours and hues, with addition of variety of materials, their weights can vary, as do their colour finish.
