Whether you're a student or a business executive, in today's world we're expected to be constantly working and constantly being productive. At the same time though we also lead busier and busier social lives and fulfil more and more social roles. We're also constantly travelling and moving about - with transport innovations making the world seem smaller everyday business transactions can now take place in a day that would have previously taken months, and by the same token we now can carry extraordinary amounts of data on our keyring thanks to the memory stick which we'll get onto in a minute.

Fortunately current technology allows for this, it connects us to one another both mentally and physically through the internet and the aforementioned transport capabilities. Technology has made it possible for us to live with the current demands of society and keep up with our busy lifestyles. Take the memory stick for example - using these we can now carry data with us in our pocket and access it from any computer we find with a USB port (which would be all of them these days). This means that even while we're on holiday we can ...
... access important spread sheets or essays from the poolside computer, or that we can quickly download useful information from a friend's house.

The question is though, do such technologies liberate us and allow us to keep up with the pressures of modern society; or are they the precise reason that we have so many pressures today? If we didn't have access to memory sticks then maybe lecturers wouldn't expect students to finish their dissertations while on holiday. If we didn't have video conferencing then maybe our boss wouldn't expect us to attend meetings from Hawaii.

It's a double edged sword however because maybe in these instances we simply wouldn't be able to go away at all. Without a memory stick we couldn't write reports from pool side computers and if your boss called you while you were away it would just be too bad. Perhaps the situation would be that we could go on holiday less, but that the holiday would be more restful when we did? With memory sticks and similar devices our work lives and leisure time are merging more and more - heading toward a future point where we are constantly both working and playing.

Furthermore a memory stick need not only be a tool of work. It can also be a great way to share music with friends, or to carry films that we can watch on our friends' computers when we arrive. Alternatively they can be photo slide shows or catalogues of eBooks. If we are working 24/7 then it is not the fault of the memory stick, but of our interpretation of it and the very hardwiring of our brains.

So if we had the choice, how would we live? Would we go back to the days before technology allowed for such greater demand? Should we be grateful to these technological innovations for liberating us, or should we shun them as another way for the organisations we work for to enslave us? Well really the question is moot as there's no going back, and if you want to keep up with the world then you really need to own a memory stick.

In the fast changing world, technologies like memory stick have brought some relief to us. There are multiple memory stick variants from different vendors that you might want to explore.
