No matter how trendy and innovative the Modern fashion becomes, it is find its inspiration in Victorian style. The melody of Victorian and contemporary fashion go hand in hand out bursting the sense of unique style which is classy at the same time, especially if made out of feathers. Join the vintage fashion explosion by creating your own Victorian feather hairpiece using cheap ostrich feathers or any other colourful quills.

Craft a Victorian-inspired feather hairpiece, out of snap barrettes, hair combs or any other type of plain hair clip to set it on your hair properly. Let us put together the steps to make a beautiful antique looking hair piece using bird feathers. Simply glue the feathers, ribbon or lace and a brooch (if required) onto the hairpiece and place it on the side of your head somewhere around 3 - 4 inches on the top of the ear.

Set the headband right. Preferably, the headband must be plain and have a base of fabric. Build a dot on one side of the headband around 3 - 4 inches on the top of your ear. Take out the headband.

Now, stick the end of the feathers to the dot so that the feathery ends ...
... are pointing up. Depending on your choice, you may choose colourful or plain, large or small feathers. Use vague or patterned feathers or both as per the theme or style of band you want to make. If desired, flatten the feathers by gluing the parts along the top of the headband.

You can get bird feathers for sale online but, make sure you check the quality. Buy them in bulk to save money and keep a stock in hand if needed. Keep the strips long, medium or short as per your preference. Join the ends of strips of ribbon or lace to the mark and glue them, over or right below the bird quills.

Put together plain jewellery chains (without any clutch) in the same manner as the ribbon or lace from the mark below the feather quills. Cut out the chains to a desired length and fix a Victorian-inspired pendant or brooch on the mark with hot glue, hiding the feather quills and ribbon ends. You may find brooches, embellishments and medallions in various craft, jewellery or antique stores.
