Embroidery is a handiwork, involves in decorating the cloth with needle and threads. Handcrafted embroidery work is really a painstaking work that needs patience and dedication. Hand embroidery work creates very complex and intricate designs.

Embroideries vary depending on colour, texture and design. In hand embroidery, the weavers use different kinds of stitches for different clothes.

Specifically, they use thick stitches for twisted clothes and thin stitches for twirled clothes. The fabrics such as pure silk, georgette, pure cotton, chiffon and other materials are used for weaving the embroidery works.

For desired output, the artisan first creates the design on the cloth using pen, there after he use different threads, stitches and adornments depending on the output. In weaving, there is no involvement for underlying fabric in the designing process.

The fundamental techniques or stitches of hand embroidery are chain stitch, satin stitch, buttonhole stitch, running stitch and cross stitch etc.

Embroidery works are classified according to the designs and patterns.

Embroidery works such as laid-work, gold work, mirror work, wool work, white work, canvas work and other works involves different motifs for resulting exquisite designs.

With the advancement of technologies, machine made embroidery works became popular these days. But hand embroidery always the first choice of customers. There are certain differences between hand-made and machine-made. Mainly the Colour, the hand embroidery looks more graceful than the machine made.

We observe embroidery works on sarees, salwar kameez, skirts, pillows, bed sheets and other clothes.

Embroidery work sarees and salwar kameez are very suitable for weddings and other grand occasions. Embroidery works exhibits rich look in night parties and dinners. These are the latest trends and we observe almost in all women wardrobes.
