Autobytel named the Range Rover its 2014 Truck/SUV of the year. They called it gorgeous and lavishly appointed, and talked about its opulent features and timeless styling. They said it is "sitting at the top of the luxury SUV food chain." The very picky Richard Hammond, of the television program "Top Gear", called the Range Rover the greatest 4X4 of all time. In 2013 the Range Rover was named the Best Luxury SUV by Edmunds. Motorweek named it the Best Dream Machine. The 2014 LR4 continues the prize-winning, accolade-collecting tradition of the Range Rover line. The 2014 Range Rover LR4 comes with an MSRP of $50,595, a slight $600 increase over the 2013 offering.

Land Rover did not rest on its laurels. In its quest to produce fuel efficiency without compromising its capable, high-performance operation or the luxury for which it is known, Land Rover released the 2014 Range Rover LR4. The 2014 LR4 boasts of doing 0-to-60 mph in 7.7 seconds and providing 20 mpg in combined highway/city driving. The LR4 comes equipped with smart stop/start technology and smart regenerative braking. With its sleeker, more fuel-efficient profile, the drag coefficient has been dropped significantly from earlier versions. The inside of the LR4 provides more efficient heating and ventilation systems, as well, giving maximum comfort to all passengers with minimum engine drain.

Along with its other fuel-saving features, the 2014 LR4 comes equipped with a single-speed transfer case. The low, more gas-consuming, gear of the full-range case is now provided as an option in its Heavy Duty package. As Land Rover says "“some customers do not need to fully exploit the LR4's off-road capabilities.”

The 2014 LR4 comes equipped with a rear view backup camera and parking sensors. Other standard safety features include integral head restraints on all rows of seats and six front and side airbags. The front passenger seat is equipped with an occupant-detection system that works in tandem with the airbag deployment. The LR4 also has a steering column that collapses; doors that immediately unlock; a fuel pump that turns off; and interior and hazard lights that automatically turn on in an accident.

Driving an LR4 feels like an honor and a privilege. It has a tight turning radius and taut control. The Range Rover has electronic air suspension with automatic load leveling that creates a smooth ride from even the bumpiest roads. Options include heated, cooled and massage seats; heated steering wheel; full leather and glossy wood interior; and a surround sound system that includes 16 speakers with an additional sub-woofer. When you are used to a certain level of luxury, you appreciate when it is done right. The Land Rover Range Rover LR4 gets it exactly right.
