This is because you can never guess when it might be useful. Moreover furniture is very expensive too and thus you cannot consider that option also. If you have downsized your home, then you might not require many beds and homes. When you keep these big furniture items at other storage facilities, you automatically get space for storing relatively small sized items and thus your storage unit looks good and can even be cleaned easily.
2. Hire a maintenance person: The best way for making sure that your storage unit is kept clean, is to avail the services of a maintenance person. Though expense is there, but it is worth the cleanliness obtained. The person can repair or clean your complete ...
... storage facility. If you want to go for expert services then there are professional storage unit cleaners too who can very efficiently complete the task of cleaning of your storage unit.
3. Clean the storage items prior to shifting it in storage area: If at all, you need to keep the furniture in the storage area, do clean and vacuum it nicely. Remove all the crumbs, debris and stains from sofas and chair which includes those in the cracks and crevices. Any remaining food item should also be removed. Not only the furniture, you should also check food appliances like toaster, pans etc and remove any residue food material from it. This will not attract rodents who might come into your storage area.
4. Use mothballs in cloth boxes: You should put mothballs in those containers wherein clothes are put for preventing them from getting infested by insects. While doing this, be careful as they might stain the clothes. An effective method is to also put some mothballs in the unit itself as this won’t stain the clothes and prevent insects from entering your clothes. Cedar scented blocks and sachets can be created or bought and can be directly inserted in between cloth boxes or household items like towels, blankets and sheets. A fine sachet will last for about three to four months, sufficient for short term storage.
