Link baiting is a trendy word thrown around but any webmaster should always be focused on building quality content that other sites will want to link to. The idea behind link baiting is to create content which attracts attention and makes people link to the page of the site. People try to create a page of some controversial material or of something edgy and spread it through the net hoping sites will link to the pages. Really a passive approach of just writing pages for a site that are of high value on a particular topic of interest in the long term should get great search results and links.

Linking is part art and part science but the quest for tons of great links will probably never end. The competitive nature of business and trying to create the best home based businesses online will always be controlled by the search engines. If the search engines consider links important in their algorithm then webmasters will always be hunting for the best links to get better rankings. The one thing that is known now is that the search engines will continue to toughen their algo so that the only links that are of value for the search engines are the ones that webmasters voluntarily place on their sites because they discovered the page and thought it was valuable for their visitors. This is the main reason, that search engines look for links as a means of valuing a web site and it's page. If another webmasters of a high quality site in the search engines consider the page worth linking to then the page is probably of value.
