Nowadays veterinary technician is one of the fastest growing careers among the nations. There are more and more pet lovers looking for intensive care and treatments for their beloved animals. Furthermore, there are increasing job opportunities in biomedical facilities, wildlife facilities, diagnostic laboratories and animal control facilities. As a result, most of the vet techs are gaining ideal income. However, they don't consider this profession as their life long career. The turnover of vet techs is quite high as many of them quit and leave this service industry after one or two years of employment.

This is because some of them feel stressful and exhausted in their work. In some of the animal shelters, veterinary hospitals and clinics, they are opened 24 hours. The vet techs are required to be on duty for more than 16 hours a day. It is really a tiring job especially to those who need to work in night shifts. Moreover, the job is full of stress where there are many emergency cases need to be attended.

Besides, the vet techs always feel depressed and upset with the human attitude towards animals. Most of the ...
... vet techs are animal lovers. It is unavoidable for them to witness and provide treatment to abused animals, badly injured animals or unwanted animals. For those animal health techs that are emotional, they feel sad and angry with the owners or people who neglect and abuse the animals. They are always in the bad mood when they are working. It makes them hate their jobs.

Furthermore, some of the vet techs feel unsecured with their working environment. Some of their work may be unpleasant, for instance, they have to collect the animals' urine for test, cleaning the cages and exam room, comforting frightened animals and so on. They expose themselves to the risk of getting hurt by the animals. At the same time, they sometimes have to expose themselves to germicides and insecticides which are harmful to their health in the long run.

Those veterinary technicians choose to leave this profession due to the reasons stated above. The unpleasant experience has caused them to quit even though they are highly paid.
