What is Dish Network?
Dish Network Corporation is a direct broadcast satellite TV provider that offers digital cable TV services, audio programming and interactive television services to households and businesses in America. These services were launched in the year march 1996. Today, the company competes with its other rivals like cable television providers and Direct TV. The corporate office of Dish network is based in Meridian Colorado. Dish Network serves approximately to 13.58 million subscribers.

History of Dish Network services
Dish network began its operations in 1996 as the service partner of Echostar. Echostar was formed in the year 1980 by its chairman and chief executive officer Charlie Ergen, as the distributor of C band satellite television systems. Echostar applied for direct broadband satellite license from Federal Communications Commission and it was granted access to the orbital slot 119° W longitude in the year 1992.

By the year 1998, EchoStar purchased the broadcasting assets of satellite broadcasting venture of MCI Worldcom and News Corporation's ASkyB. With this purchase Echostar obtained 28 of the 32 transponder licenses in the 110° W orbital slot. This doubled the existing continental broadcasting capacity at a value of $682.5 million. This acquisition inspired the company to introduce a multisatellite system called DISH 500. In the same year, Echostar partnered with bell Canada and launched Dish Network Canada.

Satellite dishes from Dish Network:
There are many types of satellite receiving equipment from Dish network. Most of its consumer boxes are manufactured by Sanmina-SCI Corporation to EchoStar specifications. Prior to December, 2001 merger of Sanima and SCI systems, the Dish network receivers were produced at the factories in Huntsville, Alabama, Colorado and Fountain.
Early Dish Network antennas:
The first satellite antenna of Dish Network was simply called the Dish Network. It used one LNB to obtain signals from the 119 °W orbital location. This was commonly used as a second dish to receive high definition signals or ethnic programming from 148 ° W or 61.5 ° W orbital locations. On February 1, 2006 Dish Network announced that all new HDTV channels would be available in H.264 format while maintaining the current line-up as MPEG-2. Dish Network is planning to convert the entire platform to H.264 in order to provide more channels to the subscribers. Both standard receiver and a receiver with built-in Digital Video Recorder (DVR) are made available to the subscribers.
