Psoriasis is an autoimmune disease affecting the person at any age. The symptoms and signs of psoriasis problem are prominent on person's body or scalp or both. In this condition the person's autoimmune response is altered and due to the faulty immune response the turnover of the cells of the skin increases to a great extent. The normal cycle of the turnover of the cells of the skin is usually 21 days in which there is replacement of the skin taking place in the epidermal region but in the psoriasis the duration of the cycle is reduced to 3 - 4 days.

In today's pace of life where the stress level is at its saturation the disease can be seen in large number of people as stress is one of the precipitating factor of this disease.

4- Bleeding: The scales are dry and fixed to the underlying skin. It cannot be removed easily. The redness underneath the scales becomes visible only after the manual removal of the scales. Scratching of the underlying skin may even lead to bleeding.

Scaling of the skin is not only limited to the scalp but it also involves areas like eyebrows, posterior surface of the ears and the eyelashes.

There are lots of precipitating factors leading to psoriasis. The grade and intensity of it varies from person to person according to one's lifestyle and dietary habits. Weather conditions also play an important factor as symptoms are aggravated in winters.

5- Hair fall: Scaling in the scalp may lead to scratching of the scalp due to which hair fall may occur if the grade of psoriasis is very intense. The scaling of scalp may be so intense that one will be able to find flakes throughout the shoulder which is because of the scratching of the scalp by the patients.
