Getting Half Of The Job Done With An Illustration Agent
The world of illustrators revolves around art, creativity, and originality. Most illustrators start the day, trying to gather themselves and search for that creative and artistic mood before getting their materials. The mood is important for artists, and most of the time, they just sit on their corner without wanting to be disturbed and bothered as they concentrate on their work. This is why most illustrators consider hiring an illustration agent.
What does an illustration agent do?
If you are an illustrator, you would know that the job does not at all end with creating your masterpieces. It always starts with a job order, and a job order always comes from clients. You know that it's not very easy to invite clients and it needs hard work every single day to be able to close a deal. This is now the job of an artist agent or representative.
The agent is the one responsible for promoting your business while you spend hours inside your hub to create your works. As the illustration agent promotes your works, he or she attracts ...
... clients who are interested to try your projects. He or she is responsible to lobby your portfolio of works on different agencies depending on your target market. He should be the one picking which agencies to tap as possible prospects and working his or her way to get the clients' nods.
Aside from establishing connections and inviting clients, the representative should save you from the hassle of negotiations. He or she should take care of all the logistic parts of the job - from doing the paperworks, taking notes of the clients' instructions, preparing the contracts, doing the invoice, and overseeing the entire project. He or she also monitors the production schedule and makes sure that you get to finish the project right on time.
Since the agent is responsible for all the negotiations and the contracts, he or she is also expected to be the middle man when it comes to coming to terms and costs. He or she usually does the talking and is the perfect person to push negotiations should the clients refuse to offer a decent price. It is also his or her responsibility to monitor and track the payments being sent it by clients so you won't have to deal with all the logistics of the job. With an agent, you have all the time in the world to do your work as an illustrator without worrying about small and big details concerning the clients.
An Illustration Agent's Most Important Job
The most important component of the agent's job is to ensure that you still have a job in the coming days. It is his or her task to lobby your works to as many clients possible so you get assured that you still have projects to do in the coming months. After all, he or she is your representative. The agent carries your name and your works everywhere he or she goes, and therefore should be good in promoting your business as you try to establish your name slowly but surely.
