Congress Embarrassed As Rahul Is Shown Black Flags In Amethi
Last week same thing happened to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Kumar Vishwas when he reached Amethi for his campaign rally. Black flags were shown to him in his protest by Congress supporters in the district. A similar incident again got repeated in Amethi and this time it was Rahul Gandhi, vice-president of Congress party who faced black flags and strong protests from AAP supporters during his two days political rally in Amethi.
Amethi, the hotbed of Congress for years is shifting its opinion on the choice of which party to rule the place. Rahul Gandhi landed in Amethi on January 22 to conduct his polls campaign was shown black flags by women activists of Jan Kalyan Samiti (JKS) and Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) during his visit. This was Rahul’s first visit to the place after he was appointed the position of Congress Campaign Chief of the Lok Sabha elections. He arrived with his sister Priyanka Vadra to Amethi. Both the party activists were angry over power supply and bad roads of the district. AAP supporters raised slogans against him for neglecting Amethi for years.
Reacting to the comments of party activists ...
... Rahul said that he has done everything possible for Amethi. Women empowerment and healthy way of living for farmers were the prime work done by Congress here. National highways were also constructed for better transportation facilities. He admitted on lack of electricity in Amethi but he soon added that roads and electricity fall under state government and despite funds provided by the Center, Uttar Pradesh government has not worked up to the mark for the area. He lately added that the atmosphere is good and it feels like a home to come down to the place.
Kumar Vishwas has already thrown open challenge to Rahul to contest with him in Amethi in the forthcoming general elections. Vishwas has been campaigning in Amethi for the past 10 days to gather public support for the next big elections. During his last rally in the city he was very hopeful to finish Congress dynasty from the place. This time also he commented that “Rahul was in Amethi on a two day political picnic and not to share the pain of the people. Thus the people of Amethi are feeling cheated. Rahul also bounced back saying that Congress does not talk but act.
Rahul arrived at the place to meet with his party workers, know about the problems people are facing and how things will be changed. He is also expected to make surprise visits to some of the villages to know about the impact of welfare schemes such as MGNREGS and National Rural Health Mission. Rahul has been elected twice from Amethi. The seat is with Congress for years. Earlier the seat was held by Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her late husband, former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
Thus, with Lok Sabha elections approaching day by day, all small political issues are having a longer shelf life.
