A few years ago people had to make do with a few channels most of which were nationalised channels. Viewers did not have a choice but to watch these channels. A few years ago came the era of cable TV which brought in channels like Zee TV, Sony Entertainment, Star Plus and more. Recently new channels such as Life OK and Colors were added to the Hindi TV channel palette. These channels have brought with them an opportunity for viewers to view programs that were not made earlier. Channel viewing today has become more competitive with channels doing their best to air programs that catch the fancy of viewers and keeps them glued to their seat.

One such family drama that airs on Sony Entertainment is an adaptation based on the book Patrani written by Imitiaz Patel is Bade Achhe Lagte Hain. This show premiered in the year 2011 on 30th May. The storyline follows the lives of the protagonist Ram Kapoor and Priya Sharma who are from diverse backgrounds with a completely opposite outlook to life. Bade Achhe Lagte Hain produced by Balaji Telefilms began with a great bang where viewers were eager to see such an unconventional couple come together to start a new life and where they discovered love after marriage is the typical story followed in the many arranged marriages happening in the country. Many families in India identified with the trials and tribulations that both the leads face and their reactions to it. The plot revolves around Priya Sharma and how she looks after her family while sacrificing her wants for them. It also has Ram Kapoor doing his best to look after his step siblings and his stepmother Niharika.

Sakhshi Tanwar plays a lady in her 30’s quite convincingly who has a different outlook to life and her ways that eventually her husband Ram Kapoor agrees too. The pair after many adjustments, facing trails and other situations together finally falls in love. The show has taken time leaps almost three times and still has managed to hold the attention of the audiences. The serial now revolves around their three children with their first daughter Piyu turning negative from the positive influence she was when the show took the first time leap in this drama. The audiences are now waiting with bated breath to see if Piyu manages to turn lifelong friends into foes in the coming weeks.
