Metabolism is the conversion of oxygen and calories to energy. Every cell in the body relegates upon thyroid hormones for adjustment of metabolism. It is not so well known that nicotine tends to increase the metabolic rate, which is one of the considerations when some people gain weight when they quit smoking. Metabolism is a lot of of chemical reactions that takes place in the body's cells to transform the fuel in the food we eat into the energy we need to power everything we do, from moving to thinking to growing. Specialized proteins in the body control the chemical reactions of metabolism, and every chemical reaction is coordinated with other body functions.

We all know that exercise increase the amount of calories we burn , as well as increasing muscle tissue, and reducing fat deposits .Good exercises, jogging, walking, will speed up your metabolic rate for a few hours after you have finished the activity, essentially , you would continue to benefit from the increased metabolism ,while watching TV or cooking dinner , long after you have forgotten that you have exercised.Even ambient temperature will influence the ...
... rate your body sets for the rate , coupled with the food you choose to eat and short workouts you describe, can make a winning combination for either speeding up or slowing the metabolic rate. The basal metabolic rate is the rate at which we run when we are at rest , it is the basic necessity to keep our body cells running at a minimum level. This is often the target for people who wish to lose weight , as they will continue to lose fat even when sedentary.

Calories expended to cover these basic functions are your basal metabolic rate also known as BMR. Typically, a person's BMR is the largest portion of energy use, representing two-thirds to three-quarters of the calories used each day.

One of the main reasons for regaining weight after dieting or fasting, has to do with protein and related replacements of fluids, Hence it is always important to keep well hydrated during a diet or even when just trying to lose weight naturally be lessening the food you would normally eat.Water is always re-established once your metabolism reverts to normal behaviour , and fat loss is not the same as weight loss, there is a subtle difference. Protein is absolutely necessary in a diet , and is a contributor to the loss of fat as well as a way to stop it from coming back immediately.

Eating small frequent meals will prevent you from getting really hungry and binge eating or eating foods that aren't good for you. It's much easier to make healthy food choices when you're not famished. Eating more really can help you lose weight -- eating more often, that is. When you eat large meals with many hours in between, you train your metabolism to slow down. Eating a tablespoon of chopped red or green chili pepper can temporarily boost your metabolic rate by up to 25%. Some studies suggest the effect only lasts about half an hour, but if you eat spicy foods often, the benefits may add up.

Even though you may workout for an hour or two per day, you may find that you lose more weight than you have put in for the activities . This is not the fault of the diet but really thanks to the increase in Metabolic rate. Always take all these factors into consideration when you begin your new diet , whether you want to gain weight or lose it , healthy and do it right !
