Reasons Why We Need Fashion In Our Lives
When we hear the word “fashion” we think supermodels garbed in whatever is considered fierce, hip and fresh. We think outfits that are meant to dazzle, shock and elicit admiring glances or envious looks from our peers and from society in general. However, if today’s fashion trends and designs are anything to go by, even those who claim not to know anything about fashion will think twice about casually throwing on the first thing they reach for in their closets.
Fashion first and foremost, has always been credited as an outlet for creativity. If you look around you, every person is dressed as they are for various reasons – for comfort, for style and just because. But mainly, you will realize that everyone dresses according to the beat of their fashion drums whether they like to dress like throwbacks to earlier times or dress as if the entire world has its eyes on them.
Celebrities are often the benchmark by which we dress ourselves and often, we tend to imitate their look right down to the earrings or the shoes they wear. Other times, we do our own twists and turns to come up with our own signature look, ...
... which is something that expert fashionistas often encourage because it is often from these explorations and experimentations that new fashion trends are born.
So really, when you think about it, fashion is important even though suggesting this in times of economic strife will only elicit looks of disgust and disbelief from people who couldn’t understand how you can begin to think such shallow thoughts in these difficult times. But then again, just because a person likes to dress themselves in branded clothes rather than put together an outfit entirely from the sales bin doesn’t mean they’re shallow or likes to be what they are not.
Fashion is really, just a form of self-expression. Even if you aren’t so people-oriented and would rather stay home and read a good book than party at the clubs, you still need the world to view you for who you are and what you are and nothing does that better than fashion. Although there were times and places around the world when and where being fashion-forward would’ve gotten you in jail, fashion is still a defining factor of who you are, where you’re from and where you want to be.
Fashion also defines your culture and beliefs, something that is often difficult to explain or verbalize most of the time. It is something that allows you to express whatever you’re thinking and feeling at a particular moment and for this very reason, people are hesitant to indulge their inner fashionistas because they fear that they will reveal too much of themselves and get hurt in the process. The last thing everybody wants is to be vulnerable after all.
But then again, fashion can also give people a sense of what you are capable of, the skills you possess. Why do you think power suits became such a trend in the corporate world? When you dress in a killer outfit for job interviews, you give off that “you-must-hire-me” vibe and take one step up the corporate ladder towards a successful career. Your fashion sense dictates how people will see you and want you so it really isn’t advisable to be so flippant and carefree about fashion. Why be ignorant about something that will help you score that dream job or that dream guy or girl?
And lastly, with fashion being accessible to anyone, there are more chances or opportunities to express yourself and celebrating your individuality – something that everybody desires. If you want to update yourself on all the latest fashion trends and what the world is wearing nowadays, you can check FashionPlus and be who you are whenever, however you want.
