EVA is a name that came from Evergreen Airways, the name that the airline was called in the beginning. Someone came up with the idea of taking letters from Evergreen and Airways, and the result was EVA. Being confused for another airline with a similar name, necessitated the change of Evergreen Airway's name. EVA flies out of the island country of Taiwan and provides services to Asian and international destinations. Airlines all pretty much experience the same things, so there histories are all pretty much the same. EVA had financial difficulties in the middle years of the 2000s, but they have survived and are profitable, once again.

EVA is a mostly privately held company, even though they did begin offering stocks in 2001. The Stock Exchange of Taiwan lists EVA. However, most of the holdings are private and continue to remain that way ever since. The implications all over the airline industry have become extensive after September 11. Those affected were not limited to US based air carriers simply because of the affect on flight operations in the US. For that reason, during the year 2002, EVA responded the smartest way they could and in comparison to a lot of other companies, they were able to stay in business.

This airline, EVA, is fiscally sound and continues to make profits and expand in the marketplace. Most people do not realize how difficult it is to start-up an airline from nothing and expand into profits on an international scale. Taiwan is the country from which they originate and they do a very good job of serving the community there. A conglomeration of multiple Asian airlines, under the aegis of EVA, they have grown exponentially and are very stable. Their expansion and growth is the net result of good business practice as well as maintaining domestic flights in a safe and profitable manner.
