Every nation deserves development for a better future. India is a developing country and development in every sector becomes important for its all-round growth. Gujarat enlists itself in the category of new developing states of the country. It is one of the most successful models of recent times. Not only few other states of the country has expressed an interest in it, but our neighbouring nation, Pakistan has also expressed its desire to purchase electricity from Gujarat to meet its inadequate power supply.

Modi has been highly appreciated for his developmental model by the envoys of Latin America. In a meeting with Modi, they expressed their desire to conduct business with Gujarat as they see high possibilities of getting good results from their respective countries. In the last few years, Modi and his government have shown an upward curve in growth rate of the state than to the other competitor states.

But with the amidst all the acclaim, criticism is also being faced by the Gujarat CM for his developmental model. Medha Patkar, a noted social activist of Kolkata have made strong comments on Modi and his developmental model, calling it a corporate model which will serve corporate companies enormously. The model has provided land to corporate houses which belonged to the poor people. She further added that Indians had always pursued a Gandhian model of development in the country, which meant that production by the masses and not mass production. This new model leads to greater injustice to masses.

Few days back, Narendra Modi visited Mumbai for his election rally where he clearly focused on selling his developmental model in Maharashtra. But things did not work in his favour as very few takers came up for Modi’s Gujarat model.
